    WOW! Just WOW!.

If you don't like electronic scores, better you pass.

It's a highly powerful and dramatic electronic score. The textures are dark and opressive.

How can lovers of the old-school Zimmer/Mancina sound not appreciate the action-power-anthem use of the main theme during "Siege"? smile

That sweepingly dark romantic theme is incredible, superb for a thundery night, fantastic score.

And is that a real poster of Ralph Macchio starring in the movie Back ? Wonder how his career would have turned out if he had taken the job.

    Gorky Park - James Horner

Really good, really early score from him with impressive synthy action music and one gorgeous theme.
  1. The best score of that style, isn't it? And perhaps the only one I can actually take, except Another 48 HRS

Ditto (but I've never heard Another 48 Hours).

Anyway, I moved from that to Brainstorm, which is absolutely brilliant.
  2. What did you think of Horner orchestrating his electronic action style for Clear and Present Danger's Ambush? All the motif are present there.

I can't take Commando. AT ALL.

Indeed - I like it there (moral issues of recycling aside). I think CAPD is very underrated really.
  3. Astro Boy - John Ottman

    Terrific, hugely enjoyable adventure score.

BRAINSTORM is a no-brainer ( pun intended ), absolutely magnificent score from a very young ( 28-29 at the time? ) composer.

I like GORKY PARK too, great interpolation of some Tchaikovsky pieces in that.

A fluffy way to end a somewhat unproductive day of studying.

... I was reading about group behavior of a bat species Eptesicus fuscus, and searching the genus name led me to a YouTube link. Film scores always interrupt me studying! dizzy biggrin

I want the album, or should I save money for The Dark Knight? (I haven't seen that sequel yet)

  5. NP: Blake's 7: Rebellion - Alistair Lock

I'd come across a whole bunch of albums online that featured new-ish audio adventures, and hunting through the tracks I came across a single music track featuring the original score to these (minus the original TV theme unfortunately.)

Now, there's the release of a digital album featuring music from these episodes.

It's quite exciting - though it seems purely synthetic (very obviously in places). Anyone interested can hear some of the music as a background to an audio documentary on these shows (narrated by the composer, so hopefully there'll be some talk about the music.)
