  1. I've just come across a piece called "Starfighter Symphony" that sounds very "film score-y" (certainly from the clip). A review of imdb.com shows no entries as a film composer - which is a shame on the grounds of the clip. And especially as he wrote this when he was 14! Maybe he's still too young to get a project that would make it onto imdb.com?

    "The Starfighter Symphony, is an award-winning, premiere full orchestra piece that was written by composer Thomas Gaff for the Henderson Civic Symphony’s “Young Artist Competition” in 2001, when he was only 14 years old."

    I'll start a fresh composer topic for when he gets some projects in the future...

    That's pretty damn good, well done to Gaff and I hope he gets more work, very promising.

    Listening the entire piece at the moment and it's certainly got the sound and feel of a high school orchestra - it's not quite as polished as it could be! And the orchestration (and recording) doesn't sound quite "right". There's also a bit of audience noise to be heard in places.

    But, that doesn't really detract that I am really enjoying this piece!

    I've found a YouTube page for the composer: http://www.youtube.com/user/composerdude86 Though this piece doesn't seem to be featured. I quite like "The Hobbit Suite".

  4. Hey guys, I apologize I haven't seen this thread or responded to you sooner. Thank you so much for the kind words. Those pieces were written and recorded waaaay back in the day with high school level orchestras (as that was all that was available to me at the time), so the fact that the general message still got across with that fact is awesome! I'm actually currently living in LA and working on a full length album of all new music which will be professionally recorded (no more high school orchestras) and released either later this year or next year which I am running a fundraiser for, so if you know anyone at all the might be interested in helping get that project off the ground, please pass the link around to anyone you can. Thank you again so much for the support!! Just goes to show the magic of the internet :-).
