    thread monitored by news channels as well, they even showed photos of the plane that crashed (before the accident) which are to be found over at airliners.net , this thread has them too.

    My thoughts are over our Spanish friends, i hope nobody was affected by this sad event. I already e-mailed my Soncinemad friends and my thoughts are with them.

    Acording to elplural.com, 100 victims (at least) and 27 injured (8 of them very badly).
    It seems the flight had already taken off when one of the left motors has gone on fire.

    Acording to CNN there´s only 26 survivos.

    It already one take-off attempt which was aborted, came around via taxi-way and on the 2nd take off according to an eye-witness everyone is quoting it became airborne and at around 200 feet the left engined exploded in fireball, bring the plane instantly down between the 2 runways. Pretty horrible and according rescue personnel and doctors (at least what they are reporting) only 28 people walked out of the burning wreckage. The packed with fuels plane made things worked as kerosene spilled everywhere and burned for hours.

    I just heard a report that the plane originally went to the runway and then turned back to the terminal because of some kind of technical fault. This was "apparently" resolved and then this happened...

    The aircraft, an MD-82, was en route from Madrid to Las Palmas when the accident occurred. We can confirm that there were 166 passengers and six (6) crew onboard.
