NP : Gatchaman Symphonic Suite - Koichi Sugiyama

I've been a fan of Gatchaman aka Battle of the Planets since my early teens .
At the time I first bought the French soundtrack LP which contained audio stories and music and shortly after I found this little gem in our local soundtrack store (yes we had one !) - the original Columbia Gatchaman Symphonic Suite LP . Though it doesn't contain any of the more memorable music we know from the series , except for the Gatchaman Theme which sounds bloody cool but is oh so short on this release - I loved it anyway . This was my first meeting with Koichi Sugiyama ! Years later I was lucky enough to find it on CD !
    Yeah baby ! cool

NP: VARESE 30th ANNIVERSARY SET (Various)

Superb 4CD set with a wide variety of themes, only a very, very few of which I had previously owned or heard.
    I am extremely serious.
  1. Some tracks make for an enjoyable listen.

Not a bad way to spend 45 minutes with an children`s adventure score.

I like it, one of the most distinctive scores of the year.

Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  4. I quite like the sound of the more action-based tracks. The quieter cues are just boring to listen to.

STEVE JABLONSKY - transformers (2cd version)

I quite love what Jablonsky did with his Transformers' scores. Unpretentious, quite to the point and mega-fun.

All i remember my friend, was that i was listening to a calm, semi-dramatic okeysh opening track and then suddenly!: cacophony.

I've only listened to Ironclad the once so far. I suppose it reminds me a lot of the recent Robin Hood - but I liked that so that's a positive for me. But it is the choral part that I like.

The Eagle is one that I have not heard yet. But I was not excited by the clips...

I'm a little confused: is the score to Eagle different to his Eagle Eye?

  9. I believe it is different. Isn't The Eagle a new film?

  10. And are you not confusing it with Søren Hyldgaard's Eye of the Eagle?

But I didn't think Martijn meant that one. Surely even he could not be that confused? I assumed he was getting mixed up with the one I mentioned.

    We shall see!

    NP: CAPRICORN ONE (Jerry Goldsmith)

The ol' GNP release, which is enough for me. Interesting percussive textures, although it is a bit too busy for my taste these days. But the amount is perfect in that regard, finishes just as it's getting tiring.
    I am extremely serious.
  12. I think the GNP playlist, done on the film's original tracks, would be a fine album indeed. I like the more quiet orchestrations of the film.
