    This is some information I read in an article dealing with information privacy. Unfortunately, I have not to able to find the article on the web so no link.

    Estimated value of personal information on the black market (US $)
    -Address $0.50
    -Postal code $0.50
    -Past address $9.95
    -Date of birth $2.50
    -Published phone number $0.25
    -Unpublished phone number $17.50
    -Cellphone number $10.00
    -List of names of relatives $3.00
    -US Social Security number $8.00
    -Drivers License info $3.00
    -Vehicle registration info $3.00

    The data on your computer is much more valuable than the computer itself through information theft. I thought I would let people know how much their personal information is worth to these hackers/thieves. You have to take care of your personal information, the security on your computer, and be wary of that thieves are out to get your information (even in the garbage).
