  1. I was surprised to see that Francis Lai didn't have his own page so here it is.

Lai's music is not something I am particularly fond of and the music I like of his only really amounts to the odd track or theme from a few of his scores - in fact, to date, it only amounts to music from one of his scores: A Man and A Woman (the theme used as the theme for a UK current affairs programme, Panorama).

But I was listening to some clips off a 2CD album released at the beginning of the year entitled "L'Intégrale" and three themes stuck out:

    A theme from Si c’était à Refaire

"Symphonie Pour Un Enfant Gâté" from Itinéraire d’Un Enfant Gâté

A theme (a clip only) from La Vie, L’Amour, La Mort

My quota of Francis Lai tracks just increased significantly!

I like what I've heard, including LOVE STORY (I was never over-exposed to it at the time, since I wasn't even born); a lovely tune.
    I am extremely serious.

He will be honoured in Gent for the Lifetime Achievement Award during the World Soundtrack Awards. A selection of his music will be performed as well.

More info in the Gent topic.

Francis Lai passed away yesterday in Paris.

We saw him 4 years ago in Gent for his WSA Lifetime Achievement Award. One of the pieces they performed was from Un Homme et une Femme, with a "duet" by two quite famous Belgian singers. Lovely to hear. Such a catchy theme.

Yeah, I remember we met him in that church. I re-posted the pic you(?) took of us, as a tribute on Facebook. Sad news indeed, but he was looking a bit under the weather already in 2014. A tremendous legacy he leaves behind, and I really only know a fraction of it.
