I have no particular interest in bird watching, Alan, but you walk in some beautiful surroundings, that's for sure!

I love seeing exotic and strange bird life ( there's a cue for you Steven ) and I've seen plenty around the world particularly in Bolivia, India and Nepal, I never know what they are unless they are large birds of prey.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Darn, I should have known that, the bird also appears on one of Nepal's banknotes, or at least it did when it was still a Kingdom, I've no idea what's on the notes since it became a Democratic Republic. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

As promised, Anne's blog entry on our visit to Anglesey and our encounter with the osprey.
I often have to look up the names of the birds because I don't know what they mean in English. Thanks for sharing Anne's blog. Do you shoot with a special camera?
Some beautiful nature so close to you both! The little rocky islands with light watch tower are lovely. How far is this from home Alan?
Liked the page of Skye. What a stunning place! Elgol looks brilliant. I understand why you go back! The names of these places sound all Middle-Earth-like.Kazoo -

No, I don't think that it's a particularly special camera. We use a Lumix/Panasonic DMC-FZ7 and actually find it quite a frustrating camera. It does take nice scenery photos but we could do with having a camera with interchangeable lenses so we can increase the versatility of the camera.

The Skerries are about 70 miles from where we live. It is a relatively quick main route there and takes us about 80 minutes to get there by car.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I wouldn't be surprised if Tolkien took inspiration from names in Skye, isn't most of LOTR based around The Lake District in North England? On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I don't know about that - Anne is the big fan of Tolkien's work. But Wikipedia does state that some of the locations and characters were inspired by the author's childhood in, of all places, Birmingham. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

But I see that there was a ring discovered in Cumbria that had Runes carved on it that were remarkably similar to those used by Tolkien:

My leg is doing a bit better. I've got some feeling back and it is a little stronger. I still need the brace and my cane but I feel somewhat stable.

Today, 20 years ago, Anne and I were married in a lovely church in Sale Moor, South Manchester. Like today, the weather was showery, cloudy and a bit cold but it was the Easter weekend and the church was decked out with flowers for Easter Sunday (that saved us a bit of money!) and was a great place to get married in.
I can't believe that it is 20 years! The time has flown by. But we are both just as happy now, 20 years on, as we were on that wonderful day.
Tonight we are off to a teppan-yaki restaurant for a meal to celebrate, so looking forward to that. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Congratulations Alan & Anne
EDIT :-
I've always kept diaries and I just had a look to see what I was up to on this day in 1992, on that Easter weekend ( today was a Saturday ) me and a large group of friends went camping in the Brecon Beacons, the weather was very good ( can you believe that Alan, my diary says blue skies and sunshine...this is Wales we're talking about! ) and me and another friend Paul were the only two to spend the day hiking, saw horses and their foals on the hillsides and sat around a big camp fire getting drunk in the evening. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Cheers everyone!
Tim, on that day back in 1992 it was cold, cloudy and drizzly in Manchester. All the bridesmaids were absolutely frozen. Luckily though, the drizzle stopped long enough for our wedding photos to be taken outside.
I used to keep a diary when I was younger. Maybe did it for about 10 years - last couple of years of primary school and then into high school. Once I had gone through that stage I decided to get rid of them - I never wrote much about myself in them: they were mostly about things that happened to me.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

So Wales got all the good weather back on that day?
It's never been a "Dear Diary" for me, my diaries aren't very detailed unless it's specific stuff like big travels or special events ( like a wedding ), I never write day to day details and many of my diaries have weeks of blank pages. Still, it's nice to be able to compare how two different worlds were doing lo those years ago on an exact date, one a momentous day, the other a weekend in the country. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -
