Seems as good a time as any to give Shire his own composers thread, particularly as the new FSM release is Shire's score for ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN.

It's also paired with Michael Small's KLUTE

Ah... All the President's Men. Another of my favourite films. I'll be getting that CD for sure.
  2. Pre-ordered this FSM release as soon as I saw it! I've heard to theme to All The President's Men on one of the David Shire promo discs and that was enough for me to order the CD. There's plenty of positive comments on Klute to look forward to hearing this score as well.

Where have you ordered it from, Alan? Directly from the FSM website?
  3. I keep hoping a new David Shire score announcement will come. Some unlikely romantic comedy that no-one thinks will have a good score between the dozen popsongs, and then he'll just nail it like he did with ZODIAC.

FSM now sells its CDs through Screen Archives Entertainment (www.screenarchives.com) rather than directly from the FSM website - although you can get them from other online stores. In fact, clicking from the FSM site will take you to SAE. They are very reliable and if there is any problems I've found that they have good customer service too.

I love the Farewell My Lovely theme.

    listen to more classical music!
  9. Now, do you know who produced Farewell, My Lovely?

Guess it's good that Faltermeyer or Zimmer/Rabin weren't available then, because one of the producers was (yes, really) Jerry Bruckheimer biggrin

    listen to more classical music!
  13. Going to be doing an interview with him, so unless things change -- anyone have any questions?

Interesting and/or good ones will be used.

  14. I'd be curious to ask him how prevalent temp scoring and temp imitation was in the 70s.

  15. Here is my new interview with David Shire on rejected scores and more; unfortunately he is so, so busy, I couldn't get the lengthy and indeepth interview I wanted:

This is a hidden gem. I would honestly love to see this happen just because of how wildly mismatched that pairing would be. biggrin biggrin
