I thought the bits I heard were pretty good. Was SPACE PRECINCT ever released, I thought that was excellent music!

I am not sure. I think something has been released but maybe just the theme on a compilation.

A bit of an unusual one this - and a score I have had for several years.

Read my review of the unreleased score for Gerry Anderson's New Captain Scarlet, composed by Crispin Merrell.

Just had a nice email from Crispin Merrell thanking me for the link to the review of his score. It is warming to hear that a composer likes what you write!

Over a period of 4 years I've had 292 opinions posted. Not that many. I'm probably not read that much.

    listen to more classical music!
  4. Just had a positive comment from Cody Westheimer on my review for Mono Lake Story. I think he was rather surprised anyone had heard it let alone reviewed it!

One positive aspect about reviewing lesser-known scores by lesser-known composers is that they are more approachable.

Well, you reviewed something I happen to hold a very strong opinion about.
Wonder if any of the good people here can guess -without peeking- what composer was involved?

  6. Just added a review of Carsten Rocker's score to the German TV movie Held Der Gladiatoren:

    http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/2011/08/ … en-rocker/

    A nicely-balanced Media Ventures-style score.

  7. Just added a review of Moritz Schmittat's score to the short film from 2010, Derelict:

    http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/2011/08/ … schmittat/

At only 11 minutes long it may not appeal to many but it's a great little score featuring pounding ostinatos and wordless choir for a raw but emotional piece.

    That was nice!

Just received messages from the composer, film director and musical director of the orchestra Schmittat used in the score thanking me for the comments! And my views for the last 24 hours at the site have trebled!

  9. In an attempt to get the number of "hits" back down to a more usual number I've just uploaded a ten track list of cues from films from the 1950s. Quite a representative selection of the time: some B-movie sci-fi (The Twilight Zone, The Creature Walks Among Us, Attack of The 50-Foot Woman), some jazzy scores (Sweet Smell of Success, M Squad) and some "classics" (The Big Country, Around The World In 80 Days, Sunset Blvd.)

  10. I've uploaded a review of Diego Baldenweg's score to the German-Swiss film 180°

    http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/2011/08/ … baldenweg/

It's a moody score this one but features some nice piano-led themes. The film is apparently does show similarities to Paul Haggis' Crash.

Perhaps that is a thought. Broxton's site has completely changed and is no longer a forum. Remember Bregt this isn't a competition smile Reel Music UK The Real Story of the World of Soundtracks.

I am sure that Bregt didn't take the comment you made in any negative light Tom. I know things we write can be taken several ways. We are all friends here and I certainly saw it all as friendly banter.

  14. No, I don't think we need another forum to check on. I am quite content with any comments my posts generate and I would comment on those.

Even now there are messageboards I don't visit.

  15. I've just posted comments on an album by Daniel Yount, a 16-year-old composer who seems to be composing music in the style of movie trailer music and has composed for something called The YogsCast: Shadow of Israphel.

If anyone knows what this is about then let me know!
