A great list of themes there. I was sure though that there is an original recording of BLAKE'S 7 out there? In fact I'm sure I have it somewhere, I'll have to check it out.

One can only imagine how the Academy will vote. I'm sure Copland felt the same with his Heiress in 1949. Heh I would have voted for The Red Pony anyway.

Is that # 2? "though shalt not neglect daily Klingon studies"

It's hard to translate a list of 10 all written in Klingon.

  1. I've just uploaded my review of René Aubry's wonderful score to the film adaptation of the classic children's book, The Gruffalo:

    http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/2011/11/ … ene-aubry/

The book is excellent, the animated film is excellent and so is Aubry's score.

This score only seems to be available on iTunes but I found a YouTube video of Aubry playing the mouse's theme live at a concert:

BTW, anyone who hasn't watched The Gruffalo, gather your children 'round (or get anyone's children) and watch this:

  2. That reminds me, in the passed few months I have discovered to new TV themes to short-lived series that have become personal favorites; both obscure.

    "Mariah" (Bill Conti)
and the other I don't recall the name of at the moment, but it was Mike Post.
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.

I haven't heard of Mariah. The Internet Movie Database is beckoning...

  4. Here's a link; it's the first one in this set of TV themes:

    EDIT:
I think this was the Post theme; but I'm not sure; I recall piano, and it not being listed in his IMDB credits yet; but this is still pretty good:

  9. Check out my comments to John Guscott's funky score to the 2008 Nintendo Wii game de Blob:

I noticed quite late on that this album is no longer currently available. Hoping that it is available again some time in the future.

  12. Check out my review of Alain Mayrand's dissonant and worthwhile score for the low-budget movie Comforting Skin:

    Wow!

Just had some great comments from Alain on his blog:

    ...and in an email.

What I particularly liked was how I seemed to have "got" his music. At the moment, I am really pleased.
