That's Spielberg for you. Munich is the only movie of his which doesn't drip into sentimentalism.

Munich is one of his best films, a superb piece of film making.

I asked earlier about some classical material and I offer a somewhat rare CD of obscure Copland material called CELLULOID COPLAND, one somewhat difficult for many of you to handle. This material with the exception of North Star, a freebie to watch on the net, is documentary material. It is on Telarc CD 80583. As I've done before I'll include all printed material with the CD but no jewel case to save on shipping. We'll let this run through September 1st. I have an extra copy for reasons I won't go into.

As a first Copland CD I would say no. I would recommend the Copland Music for Films on RCA/BMG with Slatkin and the St. Louis Symphony. Another that would be a good introduction would be the Delos Western Classics which is somewhat reasonable http://sdtom.wordpress.com/2011/08/08/w … classics/.

I think someone should change the topic name or if there is so little interest in the Celluloid Copland just mail it to Christopher?

What's with the AMISTAD in the title? Isn't that contest long since over? I thought we were operating with 'one week maximum' for these things?

    Yikes, mid september!! shocked

That's a bit on the long side, I think. I have plenty more to give away, so it would be unfortunate if giveaways stayed up that long.

yes you're one of two. If this is all the response I get from this then the Copland will be the last one I'll do.

I've still as yet to fully participate here but if just one person wants an offered CD then that is good enough.

True. One shouldn't take lack of overwhelming interest personally. There are any number of reasons for that -- this is a relatively small forum (and hence a more narrow scope of preferences), people (like me) are very critical of what they put into their collections these days (it must be something they REALLY want), people already own it, have no interest in Copland etc., etc.

    That's just how it is.

I've had a grand total of 8 people for 4 CD's. Oh wait that is for 5 CD's. I tried to giveaway a particular version of Scheherazade and nobody was interested. I don't take it personal I just understand that my interest in music has little interest to the rest of you. I'll flip a coin and see who gets the CD. Bregt is the winner!!! PM me your address and I'll send you the Copland CD.
