    Sure, that's a classic musical! :D

Incidentally, I don't really like any of those you mentioned, although I recognize their place in film history.

There's only ONE musical ANYONE would ever need to see, and that's The Wizard Of Oz.
    Anything after that is redundant.

Well, OK. The Muppet Movie is good too.

Well, OK. AND The Nightmare Before Christmas.
But THAT's where I draw the line.

    Well. Yeah. OK.

One of my favourite albums to stick on when I get in from work around this time; best served with dimmed lights, a comfy sofa and a very large glass of wine.

Sorry, I've been so busy with work lately, I haven't had time - and I really want to do it justice! Once my mate gets round to sending me the photographs I'll get it written.

    A great band.

Do you know what 10cc reputedly refers to? It's a question that sometimes comes up in pop quizzes.

NP: Classical Guitar - Boccherini Quartet Tokyo
This Japanese quartet of guitarists perfunctorily (but skillfully enough) goes through a number of evergreens.
It's really elevator music...or should be, but dammit, the sound of acoustic guitar with such incredibly beauty of Beethoven Mondlicht Sonata or Pachelbel's Canon in D still hit me right in the soul.

MOSAICS (1958)Howard Hanson A somewhat obscure offering from the fine American composer. He is forgotten except for his 2nd Symphony second movement which was used in Alien. More should explore his material.

Very much so. His style was out of the era he wrote in. It goes back to the late 19th century. Tchaikovsky lovers would like him.

  1. [big]Ralph Vaughan Williams - Concerto for Oboe in A Minor[/big]

Beautiful, heartfelt work, my first listen to it. Timmer made me quite the Vaughan Williams fan. Listening to him also partly in preparations to my War Horse review for my website, I will definitely mention Vaughan Williams there as an inspiration.
