  1. NP : Calling All Dawns - Christopher Tin

    Gorgeously uplifting music.
"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G.
  2. Just played: Echos (1971) - Pink Floyd

NP: The Lake (1984) - Mike Oldfield

Two excellent longplayers that seem to be a consummate commentary on their respective period in popular music.

    Volker
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.
  3. Is This the Life We Really Want? - ROGER WATERS

I like his new album. "Picture That" is a great song with a very strong Floyd vibe to it !
A bit more laid-back songs overall.

I still have to analyze the lyrics some more, but it's clear the man has no desire to stop his rants against everything going wrong in the world. Some not so subtle stabs at a certain president. cool

Yahoo! It's about time celebrities let us know what they think of Trump! :D
Bach's music is heartless and robotic.
  4. Many celebs have been doing that since Trump started running for president.

I listened to Marc Maron's interview with Roger a couple of days ago, and I'm looking forward to buying and delving into this studio album. It's been too long since the last.

I've now delved into his piano quintet which is really a combination of tonal and atonal material. I read in wiki that he was the sccessor to Tchaikovsky? I don't believe it.

A magnificent album. It summed up the 80s right at the outset.

“Let us forget the so-called background-music. Let
music be music, and it will be far more affecting than any
of those ‘illustrative’ tone-pictures... Film music worthy
of its name must be good music independently of all
outside circumstances, if the music could stand on its
own feet, i.e. without the film; just as the story must be
a good one independently of its ‘photogenic’ qualities
... Film music may well be as ‘pure’ as most exponents
of contemporary music would like it to be, purged of all
    foreign elements.”
    Laszlo Lajtha 1948 Chesterian

Too bad he didn't compose more

There are so many composers we really know nothing about Lajtha is a good example, a fine example of Hungarian composing in the early to mid 20th century. He only wrote for three films and I'm going to try and seek out the others. He has a style that is tonal but also dissonant in parts. The Hortabology is the Hungarian plain

Amanda Harberg Viola Concerto, a premiere work on CD. The material sounds like it could very easily sound like it came from a film. Being able to review for Naxos is a lot of fun as it opens the door to explore new material.
