NP: Moon Safari (1998) - Air

A brilliant mix of 70s JM Jarre and 80s synthpop. Love it!

    Yeah, that and more!

Bloomin' excellent album! Love that group!

I've just ordered the DVD of Méliès' Le Voyage Dans La Lune (from 1902, arguably the very first science fiction film in history), which was cleaned up and sports an all-new soundtrack by Air!
Somehow I think it's gonna fit like a glove!!

Yep! Looks like a great release.
Note though that the actual feature (and therefore the soundtrack) is -of course- just 15 minutes long. smile
The 80 minutes running time includes the documentary on the restoration.
    Still worth it to me.

  1. I bought that album when it was released. I can assure you it's great, if quite different from "Moon Safari".

  3. NP: The Best of Depeche Mode

Sometimes I enjoy the silence. Not now.
Edit: They sound like early 80s arcade games, but that is part of the fun.

I'm listening to his final symphony #3. The Fibich recording is performed by the Detroit Symphony conducted by Jarvi.

  5. NP: Are you Sequenced? (1996) - Klaus Schluze

Schulze meets Trance, with traces of Jean Michel Jarre thrown in for good measure. Probably Schulze's most melodic album.
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

A couple of recommendations of non-film music composed by Joby Talbot:

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland - a suite of music for a score written for a ballet. Scored for a small orchestral ensemble, it's a beautiful and at times quirky little suite. It's paired on the album with 4 cues from another good work, Fool's Paradise (scored for strings and piano).

Tide Harmonic - a series of long tracks featuring music composed for a ballet (Eau), this is a more difficult work (some have put it down in parts as a poor man's Glass/Einaudi) and scored for piano, percussion and strings.

I had the opportunity to listen to a new recording of Sheherazade with the Toronto Symphony. A very strong, exhuberant, and well recorded addition.

It was released on the Chandos label.

NP: PIÈCES DE CLAVECIN (Jean-Henry d'Anglebert)

An album of only 17th century harpschicord music; by the composer d'Anglebert and released on Harmonia Mundi. It's nice, but there's only so much I can take of it.
    I am extremely serious.

NP: Symphony No.4 - 'Heroes' - Philip Glass

Based on the music of David Bowie and Brian Eno. This is the new recording with Dennis Russell Davies and the Basel Symphony Orchestra, and it's a tremendous improvement on earlier recordings; this is not hardcore minimalist Glass.

They played the song "We are Connected" on the radio today when I drove home. Good old trusty Midge! Still all synth an vocoder. I love it.
