    NP : SIMPLE THINGS - Zero 7

One of my all time favourite chill albums. Exceptional!
On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt
  1. NP: The Drop That Contained The Sea - Christopher Tin

Just finished listening to the great album, and just need to spread the word.

This is Christopher Tin 'sequel' album to Calling All Dawn back in 2009.

Same concept: World music/Chorus sung in various languages/ethnicities and each track 'flowing' into the next.
The theme for this time is: Water.

I'll just let the song speak for itself:
    Iza Ngomso - "Come Tomorrow"

    The Album: http://www.christophertin.com/thedropthatcontainedthesea.html

As someone who really love Calling All Dawn, I'd say The Drop That Contained The Sea is as brilliant as that album.

PS: I've been away from this board for some time, but I'm back to stalking the board again, and may chime in from time to time biggrin

I would have loved this sort of thing in my teen years, but these days it just irritates me. Cheesy Chant music.

Ignore the Scrooge type above, Pilgrim (and good to see you again! beer )
I rather enjoy Tin's work, even if I wouldn't play it on a daily basis.

I'll have a listen at 'drop' when I can.

  2. Well, I also wouldn't like to listen to this everyday either dizzy
Just that it's nice to break this out and play once in a while.

NP: Toward the Unknown Region - Ralph Vaughan Williams (Norman Del Mar/EMI)

    Yes, it is. smile
It's been yonks since I listened to Clannad. Used to play them to death in the late eighties/early nineties.

Couldn't agree more. My favourite band of all time, and I continue to be scared by our overlap in musical taste.
    I am extremely serious.
  12. NP: The Best of Gerry Rafferty

Apart from "Baker Street" Rafferty seems to have passed into oblivion, at least here in Germany. He has done some very decent rock songs though.

Rafferty's 'Night Owl' album is one of my favourite albums. Not a single track is skipped when I play it.

  14. NP: "Sinfonietta for String Orchestra" - Bernard Herrmann

Perhaps this could quite as easily sit in the film "Now Playing" thread as it has several references in Herrmann's Psycho. This sinfonietta was written about 25 years before he penned Psycho and I find it interesting to hear the various ideas he took from this concert piece and used in the film.

Here's an interesting comparative "analysis" of both pieces:
