NP: THE SEEDS OF LOVE - Tears For Fears

Epic - almost symphonic - pop at 5am in a cosy front-room during winter with excellent company. There's a sincere sense of euphoria here. Out of champagne. But. Found. Port.

“Beethoven tells you what it's like to be Beethoven and Mozart tells you what it's like to be human. Bach tells you what it's like to be the universe.”

    ― Douglas Adams

GAAAAAH is there no end to the Bach spam? His music is HEARTLESS and ROBOTIC.

Baroque music in general. But I'm happy to have my mind changed.

NP: IS THIS THE LIFE WE REALLY WANT? (Roger Waters)

Christmas present from my sister. I've been meaning to pick it up for a long time, but never got around to it. Fine album; very typical Waters.

NP: Jeremy Soule - The Northerner Diaries

I backed this project on Kickstarter ages ago, and it finally came out. It is very mellow, and some Skyrim can be heard in it. I need to give it a couple of good listens. It is very suited if you want to listen to music while falling asleep.
  4. Ha! I was wondering if Soule forgot about that. Wouldn't be entirely out of character for him to have just grabbed the money and run. But I'm looking forward to hearing it. I've got a big soft spot for sleepy/mellow Soule.

NP: LONDON GRAMMAR - IF YOU WAIT

Lovely album for those who like a bit of atmospheric down-tempo/trip-hop that is far, far more melancholy. Beautifully produced, with emphasis on Hannah Reid's gorgeous vocals, sparse piano, ambient electric guitar and programmed drum beats. Very addictive stuff if you're into these particular genres.

Their latest album also sounds good but I still need to give it a few more listens.

    cool
  5. The Big Black and the Blue (2010) - First Aid Kit

Klara and Johanna Söderberg are probably the most beautiful singing (and looking) duo of girls to come out of Sweden since Agnetha and Anni-Frid. Great singing and song writing!

I've been listening to Rachmaninoff's Isle of the Dead a lot; its such a staggering, doom-laden piece.
Bach's music is heartless and robotic.
  6. NP: Girl and Robot with Flowers (2012) - The Greg Foat Group

This is a little wired a mix of easy rock jazz, psychedelic rock and electronica, all non vocal. The English band apparently produced this album in an all analogue studio in Sweden, which probably adds to the overall retro style. I heard a bit of this on the radio and found the album on Spotify.
