The writers of Lost must have gone to the George Lucas MakeItUpAsYouGoAlongButTellEveryoneYouPlannedItFromTheBeginning Writing Academy.
  1. Which was similar to the...

    24-make-it-up-4episodes-at-a-time-as-you-go-along method
    BSG-make-it-up-as-you-go-along-and-unleash-the-mother-of-all-Macguffins-to-keep-people-connected-over-time method

On occasions 24's unplanned methods work wonders, look at season five for example.

Other times halting production for three weeks to plan out the final six episode of the season fuck everything up (seven *cough*.)

I spent two days almost without using internet to avoid spoilers. Still, I couldn't avoid some comments on facebook. I hope you have not read about the last fifteen minutes.

Alan, Lost isn't about the end result, the destination, but rather the whole trip, the characters, their stories and their bond. I always loved that and have no problem with non-solving all the mysteries

Then you are gonna LOVE the ending.

There's been too many and long posts to read here since the final eipsode, and while I've seen every single one of them, I'm an amateur compared to some folks here (in terms of remembering plot details etc.). All I want to say is:

Most unsatisfactory resolution ever. Except maybe the Bob/Cooper ending in TWIN PEAKS, but at least that made sense (downbeat as it may have been). Cop-out in so many different ways.
    I am extremely serious.

  2. finally watched the ending, and the ending is what people have said at the end of season 1

I've watched this and my main reaction was plain and simple, so okay, this was it?
left me cold, numb and completely devoid of any resolving feeling, it made me realize I have been watching 6 years to a show that doesn't give me a satisfying ending whatsoever

oh well, goes to show LOST really made us feel LOST

bwa, gonna begin with something I really do care about, 24 punk

Actually, viewers of the show at the end of season 1 said the the survivors were in purgatory on the island which is not true. Everything that happened on the island ACTUALLY happened. Purgatory came later!

Yeah, but it's just a small percentage against the big picture. If we live everything in our lives just for the ending, it's guaranteed to be short, fast and disappointing, everything flashing in front of our eyes and we completely missing the meaning in all.

I reckon purgatory was the plan the entire time, but since people figured the island out too quickly they just created it as an silly alternate universe at the very last minute.

    Ah ha, that's purgatory!

Agree. But the ending can give more or less sense to this journey. and this end gave less sense to it.

Anyway, LOST is my all time favourite show, and one of my all time favourite experiences.
