We certainly are. You accidently put an empty space before both semicolons.

  2. Listening to a couple of titles as possible review subjects - and I don't like either of them:

    In Time - Craig Armstrong
There's a couple of listenable tracks on this one. But listening to the whole album for a second time is likely to make my ears bleed. This just sounds so tinny and has so much treble it's quite uncomfortable to listen to. And on top of that it's quite uninteresting to listen to.

    Severe Clear - Cliff Martinez
This one is quite boring. Nothing more than washes of sound with the odd passage that features a bit of electronic rhythms. I have yet to hear a Martinez score I can actually listen to and enjoy.

I'm struggling to imagine many people wanting to actually buy either of these.

I'm not normally into songs, but the Delerue/Baez song from To kill a priest is just extraordinary:

Isn't it odd how Armstrong wrote such wonderful scores in the past and today he's other incredibly, painfully noisy or absolutely tedious?

  6. I remember Armstrong's older scores for their effective mix of orchestra and a contemporary pop-influenced synths and rhythms (Plunkett & Macleane anyone? And his the in The Bone Collector is a firm favourite.

But this new one is just so hard to listen to both in terms of the actual music and the sound.

It's far too young to be considered "classic".

Speaking of which I feel like giving it a play this afternoon.

    The Sender - Trevor Jones

A surprisingly good score with an excellent theme (and fantastic, sweeping end credits piece) marred by poor sound.

So, it has to be popular with the mainstream to gain true classic status?

Nope. I didn't say that. I just don't think majority of the film music community is as enamored with the Tron: Legacy score as some of us are.

  9. Going to listen to Tintin for the first time tomorrow... it will be one of those 'Oh yeah baby' moments!!!!
