  1. The fealing that somewhere, you've heard that theme before.
A TV show theme that seems to hsare far more in common with another piece of music than should.

This passed half year I have no encountered three, so I thought it was enough to start a thread where others could contribute.

    Example 1:
    "Hercules: The Legendary Journey's"

    By: Joseph LoDuca
    (SAMPLE)

Sound a little familiar? Can't place it? Here you go:
    "Robin Hood"

The cue is "Overture" from Michael Kamen's score. Both are grat pieces of music, but I feel personally LoDuca brought it to new heights and created a special heroic feel.

    Example 2:
    "FX: The Series

    By: Christophe Beck
    (SAMPLE)

Does that season one theme sound a little familiar (season two was a remixed new version of that)? Can't place it? Here you go:
    "Cantaloupe Island"

An instrumental jazz piece by Herbie Hancock (occassional film composer himself). His piece is a slower and a little looser, but you can hear it, especially certain live performances.

    Example 3:
    "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman"

    By: William Olvis
    (SAMPLE)

Far more blatant. Can't place it? Here you go:
    Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story"

The cue is "The Dragon's Heartbeat", and Randy Edelman is the composer. So far as I know, they have never worked together.
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.
  2. Example 4:
    "Knight Rider"

By: Stu Phillips and Glenn A. Larson
    (SAMPLE)

    You judge:
Underlining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zge__luTQpc (Harry Thumann - "Sphinx")
    Theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8BMcPjZcUw

An FSM user posted the coincidence from another score which I had never heard before:

The score certainly sounds worth checking out just based on that theme. Soundtrackcollector.com shows it has been releasedon CD twice.

  4. Example 6
    "X-Men"

  5. A striking resemblance indeed.
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.
