  1. I have seen in several CD stores some soundtracks with a few scoretracks, some of you might enjoy the songs but I am not one of those.

I wonder if anyone can get me some feedback regarding the few minutes of score by Rolfe Kent that appear on such soundtracks as Freaky Friday, The Matador and Just Like Heaven is really worth getting.

Even if I have seen (and therefore heard) several films with music by Rolfe Kent I still not own any of the few soundtracks with his music, at least not yet.

So can anyone point out for me which one(s) I should get.

Thanks and happy holidays to you

You got REIGN OVER ME? I think it's his best work to date and i just watched the movie last night which enhanced my opinion on the score even more.

Those 3 Kent albums have very little score. You might want to check his official webpage for samples to decide between them-
    http://www.rolfekent.com/filmography.htm

There are other Kent albums with substantial score that can be found for cheap. In particular I like About Schmidt & Theory of Flight. I also like what I've heard of Wedding Crashers and The Hunting Party.

Thanks for that review Demetris. I wasn't aware it had a score release. I'll see if I can pick it up.
  2. David Dobkin is listed as the director to the 2010 film "The Flash", based on the superhero.

Kent has scored his last three films (though one score was rejected).

Unless the studio interfers and demands a "bigger" composer, maybe this will be Kent's big shot.

  3. Listening to The Hunting Party for the first time at the moment - and really enjoying the ethnic/action scoring mix.

    (Charlie St. Cloud) [Rolfe Kent]

    From colosseum.de

Based on an acclaimed novel, Charlie St. Cloud is a romantic drama starring Zac Efron as a young man who survives an accident that lets him see the world in a unique way. In this emotionally charged story, he begins a romantic journey in which he embraces the dark realities of the past while discovering the transformative power of love.

Accomplished sailor Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) has the adoration of mother Claire (Oscar® winner Kim Basinger) and little brother Sam (newcomer Charlie Tahan), as well as a college scholarship that will lead him far from his sleepy Pacific Northwest hometown. But his bright future is cut short when a tragedy strikes and takes his dreams with it.

After his high-school classmate Tess (Amanda Crew) returns home unexpectedly, Charlie grows torn between honoring a promise he made four years earlier and moving forward with newfound love. And as he finds the courage to let go of the past for good, Charlie discovers the soul most worth saving is his own.

Rolfe Kent (Up In The Air, The Wedding Crashers) provides an uplifting score.

Pretty good score for an embarassingly bad movie.
    I am extremely serious.

The film has garnered very good reviews, no?

Best Payne/Kent collaboration so far is Sideways. That’ll take some beating. In both film and score.

Nope. Mixed reviews internationally, and mostly bad here in Norway. Which is deserved, because the depiction of Norwegians and Norwegian culture is so bizarre and stereotypical. As is the Vietnamese role. It was unilaterally disliked in our editorial, which very rarely happens (and we're all Payne fans!).
