3 of my favourite tv main themes are

    "High Incident" - 1996 Version
    by Hans Zimmer

    "Soldier Of Fortune Inc"
    by Trevor Rabin

Thanks for the links Justin. Seeing Brad Feidel's name reminds me of his great theme for Midnight Caller. I need to hunt for a link for that one...

Although I am seeing Rick Braun's name being associated with the theme on YouTube. But here is the theme; a great one whoever composed it:

Well, the theme was written by Sylvester Levay, while most of the rest of Airwolf's music was written by Marc J. Cairns.

BTW, I also loved the Knight Rider, Angel and FX: The Series themes from the list you mentioned.

    I would like to add:

Battlestar Galactica's theme (by Richard Gibbs and Bear McCreary):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3YVq0Hvd8k

MacGuyver (don't know who composed that one actually)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNl9M5Tx … re=related

Oh and as a girly girl at the age of 6-9 I just LOVED the Jem and the Holograms theme song:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmYU4CeuZQ0

Also a series I liked, and of which the theme song kinda got stuck in my head (although now it sounds so very eighties....)
Danger Bay (no idea who composed it)

Recognizing somebody else's strength doesn't diminish your own (Joss Whedon)
  3. "Due South"
    By: Jay Semko

    "Wiseguy"
    By: Mike Post
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yXlU3AZ26w

    "The Fall Guy"
By: I don't know who arranged it. The End Credits music (I think only used in season one); the show had a song for the opening.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TVLx00O5iI (6:31 in; unfortunately it cuts off)

    "M*A*S*H"
    By: Johnny Mandel
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDSMm8IlR9I

    "Major Dad"
By: Steve Dorff, as I recall.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZo_vEsR3YQ
(the first season version with the soft opening, and better militaristic music)

    "Qauntum Leap"
By: Mike Post. I think, though I could be wrong, Velton Ray Bunch did the prologue music.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjK9GJMBpt0

"Buck Rogers: In the 25th Century"
    By: Stu Philips
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO8kFHCXiEg

And for the heck of it:

    "CHiPs"
By: Here is John Parker's original season one theme that Silvestri later re-arranged.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYq8b0yIYr0 (no theme pictures, just montage photos somebody made)

    "Voltron"
By: I don't know without checking.

I know I've linked this before but it's worth linking again, here's Elmer Bernstein's theme to...

    ARTHUR OF THE BRITONS

Paul Lewis did a brilliant job of composing the episode scores and also incorporated Bernstein's theme.

Many of my favourite themes have been mentioned already -- TWIN PEAKS, DYNASTY, FALCON CREST, MIAMI VICE, MACGYVER.

There's also a whole bunch of 'kiddie' show themes I have a strong nostalgic connection to -- TRANSFORMERS, MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, ALF, FUN FACTORY, LES MONDES ENGLOUTIS etc. And a whole slew of Norwegian/European kiddie shows that none of you have heard of, but that were huge up here in the 80's. I think that's a separate topic (kiddie shows we have a nostalgic connection to).

But some other favourites off the top of my head that have not been mentioned:

    B.U.G.S. (Gavin Greenaway): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo56HlRgp6E

    EARTH 2 (David Bergeaud): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIodlYafwcw

    JEREMIAH (Tim Truman): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDvU0Pbh … re=related

    SKJÆRGÅRDSDOKTOREN (Stefan Nilsson): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3bUILT9 … re=relmfu4

DARLING BUDS OF MAY (Barry Guard): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGbuauoDxU0

    MATADOR (Bent Fabricius Bjerre): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA23S0URT3o

    BERGERAC (??): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlFM5C2M-Ws

    EASTENDERS (??): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94-uvrmvaRA

    POIROT (Christopher Gunning): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hmx6dQJf_rk

    DERRICK (Les Humphries): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnKlOZNb-m0

I'll be remembering more as the thread goes on.

    Nope, no dolls, no tapes...
I just watched the episodes as a kid and taped them on VCR and watched and rewatched them with my sister.

A couple of years ago I did buy the DVD's, which was a huge let-down. The digitalisation was done horribly (all pixely and bad). And to make matters worse, they had changed the theme song arghhh.

Anyway, I save the sweet memories, thank you very much.

HUGE thanks for reminding me of this show! I loved it as a kid, and haven't seen it since.
  7. Six Feet Under - Thomas Newman (I maintain that this is the best combination of music and image I've ever seen on television.)

Downton Abbey - John Lunn (much too short)

Well done Arek, I really enjoyed listening to those. I guess it's no surprise that I didn't know any of them but they were all very catchy, I particularly liked the Morriconesque 3rd one and the last one by Lorenc with it's ominous accordian.

Are these themes popular in Poland?

    Thanks Tim!

These themes are very popular and familiar for many people in Poland. Those TV series used to be huge TV hits here in times when we had only 2 TV channels in the country.

Maybe only "Oficer" with Lorenc's music was not as much popular, but I must add I would be very happy to see "Oficer" score being released in any form.

    Edit:
BTW: If you are interested, you can find some film music by Matuszkiewicz, Kurylewicz and Kazanecki at streamingsoundtracks.com

Up until 1982 British TV consisted of 3 channels, this would have contributed to the popularity of good TV themes. Now with the multitude of choice there'll only be themes to immensely popular shows that'll be ingrained in the public psyche, those shows that are syndicated on many channels throughout the world, the obvious example that comes to mind is The Simpsons.

The theme starts at about 2:00, it's useful to say.

In any case, rumour will have it that John Williams scored an episode (or more) of this show, but this is just a rumour as of yet.
