That was my association too! I always remember the anecdote that Connery, upon seeing Goldsmith's pony tail, decided that was the look for him in the film.
Anyway:

Would it not be more interesting to include reasons why and/or how we come to each of these associations? Just seems a little fruitless if it's going to be a never ending thread of random words. -

totally agree with that.

No no, they speak for themselves.
Swords? I think of Medieval swords, and fantasy swords like those from Lord Of The Rings (rather than Samurai swords) because it is in the plural. Many swords indicates an army of sorts, and an army using swords primarily - within western movies - have used Medieval style swords... thus I think of Lord Of The Rings. Also I distinctly remember from the DVD documentaries the work the production team went through in making all these swords, so this has a lot to do with my association too.
So yeah, Lord Of The Rings. -

That's a good point Steven. What I do in class is a couple of rounds, so each can say two or three words and then afterwards you can ask someone else a question like 'I didn't get at all why you thought of that word! Why was that?' and then you can explain. I was expecting it would happen naturally that people here would be confused by some associations and ask for an explanation, but many speak for themselves too.
Well, now that I'm doing a meta-post anyway, I want to add that it's very different how this works in the written word and in English for me. I think it's so interesting how the mind works. If you do this in a group with the spoken word, you just get words and/or ideas in your head, but now you see the words written so that leads to different words and ideas! On the other hand I have to translate some of the ideas I get in English first, which is weird. I find that when I have to translate, I don't play because the spontanity is gone. I reply only if the English word is there immediately. Another thing that is different is that this way you can't see how fast someone answers. The spoken version is funny because you really can't overthink your answers, but, I get the idea people here are actually posting their very first thought which is great.
