    Flukt / escape

Looks interesting......anyone heard anything? (link includes SOUND CLIPS but it's too late for me to play them now wink )
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  1. I got this the other day. It's a bit on the long side (65 minutes) but there are some nice features about this one.

There's quite a prominent Celtic/Middle Eastern(!) feel to it with the choice of orchestration and melodic style. The more sombre music for the family is nice and there's some rhythmic action scoring that I really like (lots of low strings!). Wordless female vocals add a bit of colour and doesn't seem too clichéd.

Some of the more moody ambient stuff could have been left out to tighten the running time.

Personally, I am liking this a lot more than more mainstream releases.

I met Magnus some years ago, at a wedding of a common friend (actually, I was his best man and Magnus was his wife's stepbrother). Had an interesting chat about film music, and have stayed sporadically in contact since.

He's one of the most talented Norwegian film composers amongst the new generation....a specialist (which is rare in our country) who got his education in LA. Some of you might be familiar with the FRITT VILT horror trilogy, but he's also done other interesting things.

Haven't seen FLUKT yet, but it looks like a nice genre flick. It has some bad reviews over here, though, mostly because of the awkward dialogue (which shouldn't be that noticeable to foreign viewers).
    I am extremely serious.

Is it kinda in the league of Atli Orvarrson's EAGLE or Lorne Balfe's Ironclad?

Check out the trailer for next year's big disaster movie BØLGEN (THE WAVE) -- our first disaster movie in Norway. Magnus is doing the music:

  2. Just saw the trailer. Is the score worth checking out?
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

The FILM is definitely worth checking out, but the score is pretty much 'by-the-numbers'. Beite is really one of the few composers in Norway who has the ability to write Hollywood-style music (most everyone else always try to be different and weird and idiosyncratic). It's worth checking out -- I believe it's on Spotify -- but Beite has done better before, like last year's wonderful adventure score RAGNAROK.
