I am, however, a little concerned that the plot of the movie seems to look very much like a short story I once wrote. Must be one of those cosmic coincidences, literally. slant
    I am extremely serious.

Very Solar-ish indeed; which in turn is very 2001-ish.

Very impressive though and the score sounds promising.

Yup, he always writes for that 'stranger' kind of movies. I've often wondered what Solaris would have sounded like if he got a shot at it.

I've got a feeling you'll find out when you're seeing Moon wink

Has anybody heard anything yet on a CD release? I sincerely hope this will not be a bloody iTunes exclusive... angry

I got pretty worried lately that the Mansell written score to Moon wouldn't be getting a CD release. Mainly because we didn't hear anything about it, and because it's such a low-key festival film. I was betting on an iTunes release, or something. Yet, good news! It will get a release! Clint says so himself on his MySpace page:

If you've seen the trailer you will have heard parts of my score already and we have just mastered the CD and vinyl versions ready for release very soon...its 11-tracks and 55 minutes of Mansell goodness!!
I'll be back with another update very shortly with the release dates of my score to 'Moon' from Black Records!

Great news, if you ask me! punk
Also, 11 tracks and 55 minutes, which gives it an average trackduration of 5 min. cool

Samples or not, it's a must buy for me. It's 1) a Clint Mansell score, for 2) a Darren Aronofsky film, that's 3) dark and heavy, yet 4) touches upon brilliant classical music, and it's got 5) Natalie Portman on the cover. It's one of the releases of the year to look forward to!

it is one of the most major films this year. It is a dark epic and the trailer is incredibly impressive. The score has the prospect to be as good as the fountain although it is very hard to top.

    FASTER

Lakeshore Records to release soundtrack on November 23rd

Lakeshore Records will release the Faster -- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack available digitally and in stores on November 23, 2010. Clint Mansell (Black Swan, The Wrestler composed the original music.

Composer and musician Clint Mansell started his musical journey in his home town - Stourbridge, England. As front man of Pop Will Eat Itself, Mansell released seven albums between 1987 & 1996, and notched up 11 Top 40 hits. The band splintered at their peak to pursue various side projects, with Mansell leaving for New York.

A chance introduction to Darren Aronofsky in NYC led to Mansell's film score debut, the acclaimed independent movie, Pi (1998). This director-composer union continued with Aronofsky's ambitious follow-up, Requiem for a Dream (2000). His unique approach to composing combined with the success and acclaim of these scores quickly made him an in-demand composer, and prompted his move to Los Angeles. Keeping his options broad, Mansell has sought out projects from the dark independence of these films through to major action films such as Smokin' Aces (2007) and Sahara (2005), thriller Wind Chill (2007), big budget horror of Doom (2005), taking in comedy of a dark nature in 11.14 (2003) to the lighter and more romantic fare of Definitely Maybe (2008).

It was the return to working with Darren Aronofsky and his creation of the soundtrack for The Fountain in 2006 that earned Mansell his first Golden Globe Nomination (Best Original Score). Reuniting with Kronos Quartet who also played his score for Requiem (and is a highlight of their live performance) and bringing in Scottish post-rockers Mogwai. It was also the work that received two awards at 2007's World Soundtrack Awards (Best Original Score & Public Choice Award). In addition it warranted a Chicago Film Critic's Award (Best Original Score) and an On-line Film Critics Society Award (Best Original Score), as well as seeing Mansell nominated for a Broadcast Film Critic Award for Best Composer. Mansell’s upcoming releases include Black Swan and Source Code.
After... years in prison, Driver (Dwayne Johnson) has a singular focus – to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he’s finally on his mission … but with two men on his trail – a veteran cop (Billy Bob Thornton) just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hitman (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. It’s a do or die race to the list’s finish as the mystery surrounding his brother’s murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver’s list may be incomplete.

Castle Rock Entertainment and CBS Films Films present Faster in select theaters on November 24, 2010. Faster – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Lakeshore Records will be released digitally and in stores on November 23, 2010.
