I love Soho. Going there everytime I'm in London (always including a stroll through Chinatown) and, well, yes, I can't be objective, this is where I met Hans for the first time (second time was Hampstead)http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Soho used to be extremely seedy until the law cleaned it up in the early 80's. ( the seediness is still there but more covert and still just as dangerous for the unwary )
I used to love walking through Soho on my way to specialist soundtrack record store 58 Dean Street Records. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I would like to do a tally:
Who of you are going to be in London on Saturday night?
I'll be returning to Oslo the day after the concert, so no one is allowed to stay behind and have a good time after I'm gone.
I guess Bregt and me yes
we will have fun in Ghent during the WSA awards though, so you better be therewaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

Alright, should we land on an area soon?
I have a suggestion:
The Paddington area!
I've done some research, and here's what it is: This is located on the other side of the Hyde Park (about 2 km from RAH straight north through the park). It's mostly a residential area with office buildings etc, BUT....it has many low budget hotels and several pubs that are open to 11 (12 in weekends). If we want to party on Saturday or Sunday evening (or after the concert on Monday), we have to go to Soho anyway, as that's where the night clubs are. We have to take the sub or go together on a cab.
What do you say?I am extremely serious. -
- CommentTimeMay 26th 2013
Either Paddington or King's Cross.I am extremely serious. -
- CommentTimeMay 26th 2013
Actually, now that I think about it, maybe King's Cross is better in terms of night life.
Come on, let's have a vote -- Paddington or King's Cross?I am extremely serious. -

Knowing both spots, I think there may be more pubs around King's Cross, of course.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Alright, let's settle on King's Cross. I found a cool place there that I would like to book. Booking soon....
(PS. there's also a hostel there called Generator Hostel which is VERY cheap....something for you, Bregt)I am extremely serious. -

I'll give the details about the hotel if/once I book. Hold on....I am extremely serious. -

BTW, I'm not going to the Elfman concert, I was just merely saying that pub-wise King's Cross looks more interesting.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Well, I bow to the London wisdom of Pawel Stroinski.I am extremely serious. -

King's Cross is close to Pancras, which is good! I'm sure that'll work. Let Thomas and me know your place Thor. I'll probably stay in a hostel unless a hotel with breakfast for fair price is what you got as well...Kazoo -

OK, booked hotel. Relatively cheap by my standards (for the comforts I crave), but there is no breakfast. Rather, it's an apartment-style building by Cartwright Gardens. But for you, Bregt, it's probably too expensive. It's 330 Euros for all three nights. Of course, if you share a room, it's half that -- but the rooms look a bit small for sharing. And it's only double beds, I think.
In any case, this is the place:

It's called Studios 2 Let Service Apartments. This is the location.
I've told Eirik to book a room there when he gets access to a PC.I am extremely serious. -

Looks pretty cool, but yes, that is expensive. That's even more then what I will pay for accommodation for two weeks in Romania next month. I guess it's a Norwegian thing?
Clink hostel is not far away, 10 minute walk, so we'd be 5 minutes apart.Kazoo -

Not really. Just that I need my comforts in order to sleep (I sleep extremely lightly and wake up at the faintest noise). I will go for a hostel only if I'm really, really desperate -- and even then I'll try go get a private room. The funny thing is that I probably earn far less than you and on top of that don't have the financial luxury of living with my parents!
Great that we're close by!I am extremely serious. -

Someone knows if there will be a Pre-concert talk with Danny Elfman?
Thanks -

That's doubtful. In any case, we don't know anything about the event other than the concert itself at this point.I am extremely serious. -

Ok, I've been thinking this over for quite a bit and with october being a busy month for me, not to mention I could save out a lot of money (london is expensive), I've decided that I will not be doing the Elfman concert after all. I'll still be going to Horner in Vienna which was always my preferred choice out of the two. I will miss meeting UK members on here, WSA is a given so I will see you all there! -
- CommentTimeJul 19th 2013
Ooh. That's a pity. London is indeed expensive. And you don't get much in return (for accommodation at least).
Hope someone wants your ticket!Kazoo -

Additional performances of this concert have been organised in Birmingham, Glasgow and Leeds. This is good news. I will go to the Birmingham one (which curiously isn't currently listed at the below link, but presumably will be soon).

There's plenty of low-budget hotels around St Pancras. Not to mention... you got Platform 9 3/4 there!! Just saying.
Still pondering over this... whether I should try and catch the Leeds show....www.synchrotones.wordpress.com | www.synchrotones.co.uk | @Synchrotones | facebook | soundcloud | youtube
