It's a fantastic song, featuring one of the most talented Norwegian singers and songwriters in the last few years -- Susanne Sundfør (you might have heard her song "White Foxes"). Elements of Kate Bush there (Timmer, you should like this!), but definitely with her own identity too. Her collaboration with Gonzalez and Trapanese in this film is something to look forward to.

My expectations were just raised a few notches!

Yeap, I liked it Thor, beautiful voice cool

By the way, did you ever buy any Kate Bush albums?

I got THE KICK INSIDE on a cassette copy from my dad when I was a kid, but haven't really taken the time to explore her work since then. Not album by album, in any case. I've simply put it off. I know there's a lot of stuff that might appeal to me.

I think it'll appeal to you big time. I love all her stuff but I'd suggest you start with Hounds of Love, awesome album.

What a great song this one. Quite an in your face melody.

Thanks for the soundclips Alan, looking forward to it a lot more! Though it seems M83 also adopted the string ostinato's from Daft Punk and Powell too.

    Oblivion now streams here!

Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  2. Did I read somewhere that there will be a "special edition" release of the score to Oblivion that features more than the 17 tracks featured on the "regular release"?

I can't seem to recall where I read that news.

Thanks Demtris! I'm only on the second track but loving it, not surprised as I really like M83 (Particularly their last album) and "Tron: Legacy" is by far my most listened to album of the last few years.

    Yep, here it is: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/obliv … d617141516

£12 is quite a lot for a download and I can't find a CD release on amazon, will definitely be picking this up in some form.

Well, i think Trapanese , m83 and the lot (Daft Punk too of course) are some very fortunate cases of new blood into film music that can stir (perhaps) the sound into fresh new paths, away from the awfully cliched rc crap that's been ruining so many movies during the last 10 years.

Tech 49, Fearful Odds and Undimmed by Time were very good, extremely enjoyable listens. Above average score and a job well done for m83. I do think these scores tend to get extremely overhyped though.

That easn't even worth the time to click the link.

I do like M83's work though. Like Air, I think France currently produces some of the finest...erm...whatever the hell you call the style they compose in.

Yes, it's part of the new, upcoming Jarre album where he collaborates with other great electronica artists, including Tangerine Dream, Massive Attack, Gesafellstein, M83 and others.

By the way, isn't it time we update this headline to just say "M83"?

I mean, first of all it's mostly just one guy (Anthony Gonzalez) with occasional help from his brother, second of all he's more famous for OBLIVION these days than a CLOUD ATLAS trailer.

    Just sayin'....
