  1. Any of fellow UK members care to take the class test over at the BBC News website?

I'm not British, but I came out as 'Emergent Service Workers'. Ehm....OK. Is teaching at high school level a 'service worker'?
    I am extremely serious.

"Emergent Service Worker" - This new class has low economic capital but has high levels of 'emerging' cultural capital and high social capital. This group are young and often found in urban areas.

To me most of the class labels sound a bit snobbish and elitist in this new model!

    Me, I'm Established Middle Class.
Jolly disappointing. I was sure I'd be rated Aristocratic Elite.

Clear sign of the BBC's left-leaning tendencies, I'd say, eh what?

  3. So, I am an emergent service worker, too. (Not such a bad describtion for a teacher ...)

Of course they only asced about listening to Jazz (sooooo intelectual slant ), rock/pop and classical music. They do not ask about film music.

I am sure THAT would have rendered me a para-class genius! cool

    Or aren't we? wink
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

I'm pleased - but hardly surprised - to report that I am in the "Elite" class.

Emergent service worker...but all the traits it lists aren't me. So what was the point of all that?

The traits fitted well for me, so I assume there's some truth to it, even though 'service worker' (an emergent one at that) didn't have the best sound to it.
    I am extremely serious.
  4. I'm established middle class by this calculation, though I'm not British, so I don't know what a lorry driver is smile
