  1. Now it's time for a TANGO

14 clips, 1 bonus. Playing for 42 points plus a 5 point bonus.

I have made sure the clips are lengthier this time. Most are just over a minute long.
And because there's a few obscure ones (it's hard to find 14 tangos from films!), I've given some clues for the less obvious ones.

    Clip 01
Clue: I know a guy who dated a girl whose uncle knew I am Legend. Composer is often included on top 10 of all time lists.?

    Clip 02
Clue: Three major rejections and three Oscar nominations mark the later career of this composer. This was one of his early scores, for a film by a cult director who would make a film this composer was most known for for many years.

    Clip 03

    Clip 04

    Clip 05

    Clip 06
Clue: Known for his concert works than film works. This cue gives the tango an elegant Slavic feel!

    Clip 07
Clue: Those synths. That thick air of mystery. Who could it be? Not loved by film score fans, but this composer's work with an endlessly-loved American director has guaranteed him cinematic immortality.

    Clip 08
Clue: Sneaky superhero. Not long ago.

    Clip 09
Not a Clue: Yes, that's a waltz at the start. I wanted to give us all a break from these bloody tangos. Then the tango comes in... and is that a famous theme I hear?!

    Clip 10

    Clip 11
Clue: Godard said all you need is a girl and a gun. The Spanish say all you need is a prostitute and a whale. To make up for the lack of violence, many women take their clothes off in this Spanish/Argentinian film, but it remains obscure and a bit silly. I reviewed the score once.

    Clip 12
Clue: Major composer with three Oscar wins for Best Original Score.

    Clip 13
Clue: I will be very disappointed if no-one gets this one.

    Clip 14
Clue: He remains with us, not composing so much. This was one of his later scores, and one of his very best. Most known for his pop-avante garde fusion scores from decades ago.

    Bonus
Clue: Not a film score. Related to a major superhero. What's that melody again?
    Clue 2: Podies Irae.

I'll unveil a week from today. And for many months hereafter, never want to hear a tango again. Film composers have not used it as imaginatively as the waltz, I think. wink

I think I scored fairly well.
Lets see how good I am in tango.
I did quite well in waltz.

  3. Updating the scores - Bregt jumps to the lead, and Alan is on his tail!

    Bregt - 18 points
    Falkirk - 15 points
    BobDH - 9 points
    Pllindboe - 3 points shocked

I'm surprised no-one even got the composer on #5 for this one around. That's a pretty generous excerpt, full of his little tricks, and the score was a fairly major release when it came out, even though it's not what does best perhap.

I think I know 1 or 2 clips (from the music) in this edition. Looks like it's entirely going to be workout-ability and luck for the rest spin
Hah, Michael has been generous with some of the clues!
  7. Bregt tears out in front with the Bonus! Alan guesses a couple more, and so does Bregt!

    Bregt - 28 points spin
    Falkirk - 23 points beer
    BobDH - 9 points smile
Pllindboe - 3 points shocked shocked
    Timmer - -5 points wink

As mentioned before, I've added two subtle adjustments to the clues for the Bonus and Clip 9.
That's enough clues for now. Anymore clues about tangos are best left unsaid.

How many do get these clues btw?

I guessed 6 clips based on what I knew, the rest by clues Michael gave.

  8. Certainly the clue about Godard makes a very obscure film into a relatively straightforward one.

The clues are a bit of an experiment this time. A way of making a game that some would find very hard (because, as Tim said, not everyone likes tangos!) into some a bit more accessible.

Whoah! You got 28 points without getting #11?
I thought that was the easiest to get without even listening. Too many clues there.
Anyway you should soon be on 31 points and can relax. punk

  10. BhelPuri tries to muscle in on Alan and Bregt's act! And does a damn fine job of it too. No one is safe.
Meanwhile Tommy comes in to become the new middle child.

    Bregt - 28 points
    BhelPuri - 25 points punk
    Falkirk - 23 points
    TommyBoy - 13 points cheesy
    BobDH - 9 points
    Bregje - 4 points
Plindboe - 3 points shocked shocked
    Timmer - -5 points wink

And Bregt, Bhel or Alan, are you guys thinking whether you might present the next game if you win?

I do have a theme in mind, and I do have the scores selected. I just need to sort the clips out. I should have them done by the end of the week...if there are no other candidates?
