Lots of upcoming projects for Danna!

He's scoring five of them between December last year and March this year. shocked

    Stone of Destiny (imdb)
    LakeView Terrace (imdb)
    Trucker (imdb)
Heaven on Earth (Deepa Mehta! imdb)
    Adoration (Atom Egoyan! imdb)
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (together with Jeff, directed by Terry Gilliam! imdb)

2008, after 2006, another great year of Mychael Danna.

Well at least, it will be a busy, not necessarily a great. However, do we know if there's at least half of these movies getting a CD release? Counting on Varèse here...

Excellent news! Danna's one of the few composers out there today who have a clearly-distinctive and original voice, i am always excited to give his new scores the first listens, trying to guess and figure out what he came up with this time!

BSX released a 1000 copy limited release of Danna's fine music for Surf's Up. The first 100 will be signed by Danna himself.

I only know the (short) score from the quite entertaining movie. Very soft and lovely main theme and a couple of really good cues. Perhaps a bit too short to buy...

Hey, those clips sound pretty good! I wonder if the score will 'flow' nicely, though, on album...

I ordered this too. I was always intrigued by it ever since Danna was announced.

Yes, that seems to happen fo some reason when there's too much guests around (a software bug of the forum this time, no server issue). It reordens after some time again. smile

Did anyone get it yet? How's the score like? Witty, fluffy mickey-mousing stuff?

Nope, listen to the soundclips. I thought there was some Glass influences in it, especially the main theme.

  2. What I've heard of this makes for a very nice score. The soundclip for track 1 should give you some indication of what to expect. Not all animation uses pizzicato runs. (Not that there's anything wrong with those that do!) wink

Saw the movie. The score absolutely did wonder to this otherwise flat melodrama.
Basically it's a mimimalism piano score.

    Jep, looks like.
It's a nice little "Treasure" in my collection.
    I really like Danna's music.
  4. Correct me if wrong guys, but I swear the credits I saw on the show "Medium" had Danna as doing the theme.

He did indeed. Great theme, great show.
  5. He's also scoring the new Lasse Hallstrom produced vampire drama New Amsterdam. The pilot airs next Tuesday on Fox.

Mychael Danna is one of the most under-rated composers ever. And I say that only having heard a small selection of his scores: Water, Green Dragon, Kama Sutra, Being Julia, The Nativity Story, and Surf's Up.
