HANS ZIMMER

- CommentTimeDec 14th 2013
Zimmer just posted a picture of himself and Jean Michel Jarre in his RC studio over on facebook. I'm not going to post it here of privacy reasons, but that made my day. I'm a huge Zimmer fan, of course, but I'm an even bigger Jarre fan and to see those two guys together -- who have both meant so much to me in my musical evolution -- was a treat.
(I have no idea why Jarre visited Zimmer's studio, btw....one can only dream of a joint project)I am extremely serious. -

The only thing that could make this project more intriguing is to have Horner announced as coming back to collaborate with Zimmer
oh wait, this is reality...I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

That does sound intriguing!
One thing that these two great musicians have in common for me is that I prefer their music more the further back in their discography I go!The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

I always imagined great science fiction scores by Jean Michel Jarre. He did some film music in his very early years and he worked with Volker Schlöndorff on Strajk, re-arranging material from his Revolution album. I didn't like that so much though. I found the music sounded alien in the film.
VolkerBach's music is vibrant and inspired. -

I thought his rearrangements of REVOLUTION in STRAJK was gorgeous!I am extremely serious. -

I'm glad then (at least this shows it) that they keep this sound for the second filmwaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

But if you want the sound, why don't they hire the man? Is it true that Horner won't do sequels?

The evidence would suggest that he will. -

I've heard scattered rumors that Horner doesn't think much of superhero films and was basically armwrenched into doing the first one by Marc Webb...perhaps he draws the lines at sequels. -

I just listened to his promo of 12 YEARS A SLAVE. Wow. Quite experimental music; I don't think I've ever heard anything like it from Zimmer before. Intriguing.I am extremely serious. -

Well he is very creative when people let him; and Steve McQueen shapes out to be one of the most interesting younger directors out there, and a huge admirer of Zimmer, judging from the previous scores and temp-track love his previous films got; so i gather he let Zimmer do what he wanted, the only guide-line he gave him probably was : TTRL.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Experimental indeed. But, save for the theme, not one to go back to IMO. In fact, I'd rather listen to The Hobbit - either of them!

Reportedly the temp-track was Inception, actually. I loved it in the film.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -
