fireworks fireworks FIRST LIST BESIDES MINE WITHOUT INCEPTION!! fireworks fireworks

i never understood, why Inception is such a special score for so many people. it works in the movie for creating a kind of atmosphere, but the whole electronic sound and simple motif are so annoying. the same goes for Man Of Steel and parts of Interstellar. just not my cup of tea.

Not at all. As I don't like the vast majority of his work I'd say managing to choose 10 is pretty good going. There are people on forums who don't like any.

    Top tier:
    Thin Red Line
    Inception
    Interstellar

    Second tier:
    Beyond Rangoon
    Lion King
    Black Hawk Down

    Pad it out to ten:
    Da Vinci Code
    Gladiator
    Backdraft
    Last Samurai

Only talking about soundtrack albums here. Some of the above are not good film scores.

Well, it's mine and it's in orbit around Mars.
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

    1) Beyond Rangoon
    2) At World's End
    3) Man Of Steel
    4) Prince of Egypt*
    5) Gladiator
    6) The Lion King
    7) King Arthur
    8) Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
    9) Tears of the Sun
    10) Kung Fu Panda

Honorable mention has to be given to Radio Flyer, The Power of One, and The Holiday for being relatively obscure but still fond personal favorites.

*I am including the songs in this consideration, as I love some of them, it wouldn't be so high without the songs. Particularly "Deliver Us" and the film version of "When You Believe" with the Hebrew-singing children's choir.
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!

+1, absolutely, wish there were more songs like this in the world, despite most thinking they are too cheesy/saccharine.

My review of Interstellar, if anyone's interested:

I'll be keen to read your views on the score once you've seen the film.

There's a very good 40-minute album buried in the soundtrack, but I think that the score can be shockingly over-the-top in places.

There are certainly some Zimmer scores I like on album which I don't like in the film, so it wouldn't be a first. (Doesn't impact how much I like the albums, though!)

Yeah, when watching the film it occasionally felt like a kid banging on the piano as loud as it can while the adults are trying to have a serious conversation... slant

Glad to see The Last Samurai on a list there. Perhaps I'll make a list too. Perhaps not. I don't like making lists because I think about it so long it's not fun anymore...

I like Interstellar very very much. I play it in small doses (only once a week or something) so I won't spoil it. Usually I listen to Day One Dark on YouTube first and then I listen to the album. All with headphones.

I'm waiting for pianist Mark Fowler to upload his piano arrangement of Interstellar. I'm curious what he did, most of his film music arrangements are really good. I'll post it here once he does.
  3. I'm shocked most lists don't include A League of Their Own, for me still one of Zimmer's most unlikely scores. And a powerful emotional roller coaster as well.

    Anyway, here's my late list

    1. The Prince of Egypt
    2. A League of Their Own
    3. Backdraft
    4. The Da Vinci Code
    5. Gladiator
    6. Crimson Tide
    7. The Lion King
    8. Inception
    9. The Last Samurai
    10. The Thin Red Line

so far not a huge fan of Interstellar, but have heard it only once in the film (before I heard it on album for the second time). Not a huge fan for now considering my favourite cue didn't even make it to the album sad
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh

Want to hear Pharrell Williams 'HAPPY' get all Zimmerified?

    GRAMMY AWARDS 2015

Hans also joins in the performance towards the end.

    It's very OTT. I didn't like it.

What's with the minor chord thundering?
    Very jarring.

I often enjoy a symphonic reworking of a popular classic, especially when it's a departure from the orginal...but I didn't like this at all.

Do you mean Martijn's link ( which I liked ) or Hans and friends where the only thing missing was a 1980's wind machine.

I just watched it again, it's fucking awful!
