I think that The Day The Earth Stood Still doesn't really fit in this category as it's not time travel. Perhaps the same could be said of Planet of the Apes? That's just being asleep for a very long time and waking up rather than bending space-time and going all "timey-wimey"?

    wink

Well, PLANET OF THE APES definitely qualifies, I think, as the astronauts travel through a wormhole of some sort and ends up in the future. It's been a while since I've seen it, but it wasn't just a matter of sleeping in cryochambers for a gazillion years, was it?

The original Planet of the Apes is actually one of the few films to include special relativity (namely time dilation) into its plot. So yes, it certainly counts.

    Interesting....I didn't remember that part.

TIME AFTER TIME I've never seen, but I read about it while doing this program. I'd love to sample the FSM CD; I've never heard it either.

Nice one Thor. I liked it. But the sound of Martinez voice is a little quiet and it's not always easy to understand. Good choices too. Kafka was a surprise for me. I love the track they performed at the concert.

Thanks. Yeah, I actually yanked up the volume of Martinez' voice with about 10 decibels in my post-production, but I couldn't go any further. Otherwise, there would have been too much distortion and background noise seeping through. I must have accidentally hit the wrong settings or something. Plus he speaks very softly. Oh, well.

KAFKA was indeed a nice surprise. I'd like to have the full soundtrack, but I think it's hard to find.

It's still December. confused I'm sure you know that some albums from 2014 don't get released until early next year. I mean, if I had of done my best of 2013 last year in mid-December I would have missed out on at least TWO albums that were released later in the month and/or early into the new year that eventually made my list. What's the rush?

Several reasons I had to put this out now (both journalistic and logistical).

Still, having seen 120 films and listened to more than 300 soundtracks this year, I feel I'm reasonably comfortable in having a representative pool. Beyond Elfman's BIG EYES (which I've already sampled on the website), I'm not aware of any titles coming out in the next two weeks that could potentially make it. And in the unlikely event it DOES happen -- no problem. I'll find some other way to highlight it.
    I am extremely serious.

You never know, which is why I never understood the rush to get these lists published before December 31st.
