Clannad will become Robin of Sherwood ( believe me, people get funky at being mis-led )

    shame
My mistake; no intention to mislead.
The album was called Legend. Of course the series was called Robin Of Sherwood.
One of my favourites, too. smile

Perhaps I should dish out bonus points for anyone bright enough to write answers Clannad/Jerry Goldsmith/Tangerine Dream for LEGEND ( 1985 and the show ran through 85 too )......either that or a slap for being a smart-alec. wink

I did my quiz last night, there was only 8 teams playing which is not bad for a Tuesday night and considering how bloody cold it was.

Here's the Soundtrack beer break round that I did ( with your help, many thanks! kiss )

    1. Anatomy of A Murder (59)
    2. Casino Royale (66)
    3. More (69)
    4. The Italian Job (69)
    5. Cool Breeze (72)
    6. Jonathan Livingston Seagull (73)
    7. Death Wish (74)
    8. Night Hawks (81)
    9. Death Wish 2 (82)
    10. The Killing Fields (84)
    11. Dune (84)
    12. Legend (85)
    13. The Falcon and The Snowman (85)
    14. Highlander 2 (91)
    15. Dead Man (95)
    16. The Muse (99)
    17. Resident Evil (02)
    18. There Will Be Blood (07)
    19. The Road (09)
    20. The Social Network (10)

Beside all these films I randomly printed the name of every composer involved plus 5 'red herrings'

    John Barry
    Trent Reznor
    Curtis Mayfield
    Jimmy Page
    Soloman Burke
    Miles Davis
    Rick Wakeman
    Stewart Copeland
    Pink Floyd
    Nick Cave / Warren Ellis
    Neil Diamond
    Jerry Goldsmith
    Duke Ellington
    Tangerine Dream
    Burt Bacharach
    Johnny Greenwood
    Keith Emerson
    Quincy Jones
    TOTO
    Pat Metheny
    Herbie Hancock
    Marilyn Manson
    Neil Young
    Mike Oldfield
    Elton John

Did YOU get them all? wink

OR, to make it easier, can you name the 5 'red herrings'?

Of the statistics on the quiz, I was surprised EVERYONE put John Barry as the composer of CASINO ROYALE ( the 66 version ) rolleyes I suppose that shows that at least one member of each team knew Barry's association with Bond.

Also, not one person put either Tangerine Dream or Jerry Goldsmith for LEGEND.

The whole quiz was Christmas themed, one of my winning contributions was the answer to this : 'name the song and artist who had a massive hit using Sergei Prokofiev's sleigh ride' from Lieutenant kije?

    cool biggrin

I just thought I'd mention I'm doing a quiz at a pub tonight, I don't need any help this time as the quiz is TV/Film/Music related, I have three "live" music rounds, a classical music round, pop music and a TV and film music round plus some picture rounds that are sci-fi related. It's a shame James isn't still in Bristol because I'd like to have invited him along.

If I could hear a sound clip of the sleigh ride thingie, maybe I could guess it. I don't have that piece in my collection.

Hmmm....no famous pop song comes to me, for some reason. There's only the HOME ALONE vibes going on.

    Okay, here it is...

    I BELIEVE IN FATHER CHRISTMAS

Make sure you listen to the end, the full power of the symphony orchestra at the end is sublime. It's one of the most famous X-mas pop songs ( at least here and in the States ) and YES, it is the Greg Lake of ELP fame.

It went really well, I even did a classical music round ( I made it very popular stuff ) and it went down very well, I was well impressed by one team who eventually won who got every piece of music and artist correct on my film/TV music round.

  1. Was David Arnold in that team? Apparently, he does a pub quiz on a regular basis.

Here's the music round I did, of course, this was snippets of live music, the answers I wanted from people were the name of the TV show or film the tracks came from and the name of the artist and it was a point for each, there were no extra points for naming the actual track where applicable...

    The answers...

    1. The Money Program - Jimmy Smith ( The Carpetbaggers by Elmer Bernstein )
    2. The Prisoner main title - Ron Grainer
    3. Robin of Sherwood - Clannad ( Robin, The Hooded Man )
    4. Cat People - David Bowie ( Putting Out Fire With Gassoline )
    5. Mars Attacks main title - Danny Elfman
    6. The Wire - Tom Waits ( Down In The Hole )
    7. The Living Daylights - a-ha
    8. Casino Royale - Dusty Springfield ( The Look of Love )
    9. A Shot In THe Dark - Henry Mancini
    10. Godzilla - Puff Daddy featuring Jimmy Page ( Come With Me )
    11. Star Wars end title - John Williams

...as you can see, quite a mixed bag.

p.s. Only one team got 'A Shot In The Dark' but I was pleased to see that everyone knew that it was Henry Mancini, a few teams put 'The Pink Panther' so I was generous and awarded 1/2 a point.

Is it really only film, geography and animals? Or are all categories allowed?

I'm reading for an exam, but if any questions pop into my head I'll post them. Since the exam coincidentally is about animals, I might come across something interesting.
