Great news, his previous 2 studio albums (and the piano works as well) were fantastic.

Also some very good news. http://filmmusicreporter.com/2014/08/31 … ing-crowd/ He's getting productive again.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

Armstrong will attend the Great Britisch Film Music concert in October in Gent. Music from his latest score Far From the Madding Crowd will be performed too!

  4. I've listened to a couple cues, including the love theme, from FftMC and I just found myself bored. Is this a case of maybe some of the score being worth while?

No, the whole thing is quite good. But I wouldn't picture this a score you would like, Justin, knowing your taste in things.
    I am extremely serious.
  5. Well, obviously you've not paid as much attention to the things I've posted that I've listened to, as you think you have.

Victor Frankenstein is such a great score. I truly feel it exceeds the quality of the score by Patrick Doyle.
  9. Review of VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN (going head to head with that other gothic score: Crimson Peak).

Another revival of an ancient topic :-)

I interviewed Craig Armstrong during the film music festival in Krakow!

  13. I was listening to Far from the Madding Crowd and impressed again by what beautiful music Craig Armstrong writes. I've only heard Love Actually (love that one too) and The Quiet American. I feel like I've underappreciated him. Are there some other nice scores by him you'd recommend?

Armstrong isn't a composer I have warmed to over the years but there's a couple of his early scores that contain tracks that reside in my favourite tracks list: Plunkett & Macleane and The Bone Collector.

His compilation album "Film Works 1995-2005" is worth seeking out for a listen too.

    MADDING CROWD is brilliant.

I'll second Alan's recommendation of the film music compilation, and P&M (part action, part choral goodness).

Also, I consider WORLD TRADE CENTER my favourite score of 2006. IN TIME is a lovely, more electronic score. And for some great exotic east-meets-west-type music, ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE (which he did with A.R. Rahman).

    That's a good start.
    I am extremely serious.
