We needed a special thread for this, and I couldn't find any older ones.

Anyways, I came across this series of pics. I've always wanted to visit Australia, but stuff like this scares the beejeezes outta me:

I spent two months in Australia.

I didn't see snakes, crocodiles, spiders, sharks, giant centipedes or nearly everything on that list except a dingo and a stonefish slant

Flying foxes ( or fruit bats ) are beautiful, saw flocks of them in Nepal.

Saw giant centipedes in Thailand......I must admit I am not keen on them and that's putting it lightly.

    Gods no!!! freezing

Someone spotted it in the sea and we snorkelled above it having a good look, no more than that.

Pointless fact: The blue ringed octopus has a minor role in the Bond film Octopussy. wink

The wonders and horrors of mother nature? This thread cannot be allowed to sink.

  1. Yeah, yeah, the horrors of mother nature - like - for example - the flue. wink

    Get well soon!

  2. I just finished a digital photobook (which has now been printed out) on my trip through South-West Australia now six years ago. But the pictures were so gorgeous I wanted them on paper, so I could look at them whenever I want to.

I basically relived my trip by making the album.

And I can tell you, I didn't see any creepy crawlers, although I was warned not to drove from dusk till dawn, because most deadly car accidents happen with kangaroos or emus crossing the roads (at night) and they did warn me about the deadly octopus (just don't go swimming on your own).

I didn't run into anything creepy, so don't let that hold you back, Thor.

Wasn't that the idea of having pictures on smartphones? wink

But I love compiling and looking at photobooks too. And old photo albums.

The problem is that my smart phone is way too small to truly appreciate the grandness of some of these views. So the photobook is quite sizable, so I can at least enjoy the pictures in large...

Maybe I'll upload some of the pictures to my FB, so at least I can share them with (some of ) my friends

Amazing. Harry Gregson-Williams' Prometheus theme is well suited for the beginning of the video.

You certainly have a lot to be proud of with such glorious landscapes. I liked the original music too.

Ha! Agreed. I would be intrigued to try some, just to see what mythical fucking creatures from the fucking hellish universe from that Stephen King film The Mist taste like.

    biggrin lick

I suspect those "eat me! EAT ME NOW!!" crabs are probably tasty.

I have read that those true otherworldly frightmares of the deep, giant and colossal squid do not make tasty 'giant calamari' due to the amount of ammonia contained.

Likewise I don't find those crabs scary. Considering my love of arachnids I would even say these things are kind of cute really.
