  1. Seems like there is no other topic to this extend.

As my film music CD collection is approaching 900 and my overall collection should be something around 1400, I am looking for some reasonable way to store these babies.

I do not have a proper shelf. My CDs are piling up to large towers. That makes it rather difficult to get a certain CD if it is lokated near the bottom.

I don't want to erect a shelf for various reasons. Rather I'm looking for stackable plastic boxes. There are those "Really Useful Boxes". The CD box holds about 200 CDs. That might be a way. Another way might be some kind of filling cupboard (or regristry).

In any case the solution must hold the CD including the crystal case.

    Any ideas?

Ones made from polyethylene terephthalate tend to do the trick.
  4. They do. But something like this could be nice too:

They're expensive I think! But yes, very nice if you can get hold of one.

I've always been a fan of IKEA's CD cabinets.
Functional, useful. 1200 CDs stored nicely away.

you could build a case very easily using 1" x 6" x 12' lumber. Home Depot offers free cutting in the store which makes it even easier. Three boards would give you 6 shelves for a 4' wide unit. My lumber cost was under $20.00, not sure about where you are.

I don't think there's Home Depot in Germany.

I've used the Ivar IKEA shelf myself, and am pleased with that. Even though I hardly play CD's anymore, it's sort of a furniture in itself that is also a statement about who I am. But you don't want shelfs, so I have no recomendations, really.
    I am extremely serious.

I'm interested in this. Do you have a link to the ones you use?

Yep, it's just the Benno. 180 CDs per tower. Not particularly stylish or beautiful, but VERY functional.
    Does me just fine!
