I can think of over a hundred great main title themes I could name let alone incidental tracks but I've purposely tried to keep to the slightly less obvious. I'll name some main titles when they're less obvious ( ie: not Bond, Star Wars etc )

    TV themes? Are they includable?

I'm still listening to Christopher Young, so I would like to suggest this track for the list:

"Drag Me To Hell" from Drag Me To Hell - Christopher Young.

An absolute awesome track. It's powerful and the main violin parts are great. It has the kind of edge to it, that you would expect any score from a Sam Raimi movie to have.

It's about to get more so...

THE SEDUCTION OF SUKI AND THE BALLROOM SCENE from John Williams THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK

    The Seduction

A silkily sensual track with melodies that soar giddily to great heights. One of JW's greatest singular pieces of music IMO.

I've listened to that track countless more times than I've listened to the full album. Pure class.
  3. Ambassador Spock: In your own way, you are as stubborn as another Captain of the Enterprise I once knew.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: Then I'm in good company, sir.

ANOTHER CAPTAIN from Dennis McCarthy's STAR TREK: TNG - UNIFICATION

This 50 second piece is unremarcable when you listen to it on CD. Yet when you experiance it in context it's another story altogether. It is one of several goosebump moments in this outstanding double episode. Mc Carthy underlines the hint to James Kirk with a crescendo that ever so slightly hints at the Courage fanfare without getting there. This is of such subtlety, much more powerful than a statement of the fanfare would have been because it leaves so much to the imagination of the Trekky. I got bleary eyes when i first saw that scene.

    My track of the day:

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD -- "Main Title" -- Elmer Bernstein

So much longing and childlike innocence in this track, really the only time it's allowed to shine fully on the soundtrack (which of course is brilliant otherwise too -- I'm saving more comments for my 'top album' thread).
    I am extremely serious.
  4. Somewhat transcending the thread:

MOMO SCHLIESST DIE TÜR (Momo Closes the Door) from Frank Duval's MOMO
A radioplay based on the novel by Michael Ende

A wonderful, dreamy synth piece underlining the happy outcome of a most wondrous adventure. Frank Duval was one of Germany's leading TV composers during the 70s and 80s. His music is mostly easy listening electronica.

Do you guys have any memory of music in radioplays that you listened to in your childhood?

Ok, this list needs some Michael Giacchino smile

The Island - LOST: Season 3 - Michael Giacchino

LOST was an incredible TV show, and the music was a big part of that with it's own unique sound (my mom once recognized the music out of context (just some random cue). I think that proves my point smile). "The Island" is probably my favorite track, although it's hard to chose. I always thought they should have released a compilation album, with just all the main themes/motifs from all of the seasons. Also, in a way I think Giacchino's music for the LOST series is his "Star Wars". And by that I mean the pure volume of it, the number of themes, etc. Basically a score that his name always will be associated with.

Marry Me (At World's End) - Hans Zimmer. This suite alone is better than the entire album.

Glad to see Portman's Final Salute on this list. And Forbidden Friendship, and The Dream is Collapsing, and The hand of Fate... I agree.

Marry Me is released on the POTC Soundtrack Treasures Collection. There are more great suites on there, Davy Jones suite and Lord Cutler Beckett suite. All great. Above all: the recording sound quality of these 'unreleased and remixed' tracks is really really good. Much better than the At World's End album. I recommend this box set. Worth every penny.

    My track of the day:

FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE -- "Paying Off Scores" -- Ennio Morricone

I believe the quintessential "Ecstasy of Gold" from OUATITW has already been mentioned, so here's my personal pick of the spaghetti westerns -- a masterful track that combines EM's sublime sense of the melancholic with the ridiculously larger-than-life (especially when the church organ comes in). It's totally over the top, but oh so fantastic. This is probably my favourite Morricone western track, despite the many, many tracks to choose from.
    I am extremely serious.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence The Reunion John Williams

This reduces me to a blubbering mess if I sit there and listen to it without any other distractions (and to be fair, if I'm playing this, I make sure that's the case).
