    So it does - wonder who edited that? rolleyes

    Rahman contributed just four cues to that score - "Philip", "Mary's Beheading", "Battle" and "Divinity Theme". The rest is by Armstrong.

    A wonderful cue and just a perfect musical salute to the heroes who returned home to a nation which some members thereof, were less than grateful.

    It's a beautiful theme, memorable, sad, but with a glimmer of hope to it.


    And a classic film.


    I never interpreted it as a "salute to heroes" cue, really. To me it was always about that particular character's loneliness, though yes, the misunderstanding too.

    I'm sure this will seem like a strange choice to most but there's a haunting sadness and simplicity to this piece which transports me every time I listen to it.

    "Must It Happen Once To Everyone?" by George Delerue from the film "Interlude" (1968). The whole soundtrack is wondrous (especially the title song by Timi Yuro) but this section is a perfect combination of screenwriting, cinematography and composition.
    The way Delerue changes from the sweeping romantic strings to the medieval Cor Anglais motif when Pam Ferris and Oskar Werner look up at the castle walls is sublime. Delerue just knocks it into a cocked hat... and then pulls a rabbit out... and passes you the card you first thought of...

  7. Not a single Alexandre Desplat cue yet :O I have to admit that is a bit surprising, considering the amount of wonderful scores he has composed! I'll contribute with the first one then. This is a film I had some trouble getting my hands on, I had to ask my French composition teacher to contact someone in France to seek it out for me. In the end he did find it! At this point it wasn't on amazon, otherwise I would've had an easier time finding it! xD

    Yeah, I just saw. That's crazy - who knew Final Conflict was going to make such a showing.

    Oh, and I'd like to add another. A strange one. Jerry Goldsmith - A Patch of Blue - Stringing Beads. The way he uses the music to hit every single one of the beads falling and then weaves the rest of the cue out of just one 4-note motif is breathtaking.

    I think that's a lovely choice Derek and nothing strange about it whatsoever. Just look at the list of choices, not all of them are the obviously popular crowd pleasers like Star Wars, Bond, Indiana Jones etc.

  14. "A Dark Cloud is Forever Lifted" from THE NEW WORLD by James Horner

    I was torn between that cue and "All is Lost".

  15. I was in the mood for dark music for Halloween, so I listened to some "The X-Files" music and it's spured me to nominate a cue, though I am going to cheat slightly -- the track I am nominating is a re-recording.

    It's the closing cue from the episode "Jose Chung's From Outer Space".

    On the compilation The Snow Files, John Beal re-recorded the cue, but re-worked it heavily, adding new elements to it as well, and in my opinion, vastly improving the cue and making it such a wonderful piece, that I had to nominate it. The only fault I can find in it, is a personal preference to the X-Files whistle in the end.
