Yeah, we can just as well start a separate thread on this film and score right away.

The teaser trailer has just been released:

    I am extremely serious.
  1. First thoughts are relatively positive.

I liked the look of the tech - and how close they are to the surface of things (always loved that in the asteroid field in Empire.) The music (it's new isn't it?) is positive too - though I am hoping Williams goes more for the original trilogy rather than the second set of three.)

Not so keen on the grumbly voice. And I see that lightsabers now have cigarette lighters included as standard.

I absolutely dig what I'm seeing and hearing!

The Williams music (yes, it's brand new) for the first part of the trailer reminds me a LOT of WAR OF THE WORLDS. The second part is just the theme.

    You don't say! wink

Love this. But then I love STAR WARS. All of it.
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

Even the cigarette lighter Lightsaber! punk
  3. Infinitely more excited about this than Jurassic World.

Are you kidding? That's brilliant stuff and perfectly suited for the 'dark sides' of this story. But it's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure there will be lots of other great stuff -- both for the light and dark sides -- that will keep us salivating.
    I am extremely serious.

No, it is not brilliant stuff. It's oodling dark burbling. Very fitting to a Tom Cruise movie. NOT to Star Wars.
I want f*cking THEMES. By the TRUCKLOAD.
    This is STAR WARS, dammit!

(It's hard enough we'll have to do without the Fox Fanfare angry )

I'm happy with anything. It's Williams, it'll be the best score of 2015. Fact.

Hmmm...After much soulsearching I actually chucked Attack Of The Clones from my iPod a while ago.
    Not all that's Williams, shines.

That said, Revenge Of The Sith was SUCH a step up, that I shouldn't discount the old beast just yet!

    Fact, indeed.

I don't think you have to worry about themes, Martijn, because even though Williams has moved towards a less theme-driven style in the last 10 years, there's no way he'll avoid it in a STAR WARS context.

It's been known for a long time now that Williams would write new music for this.

I think it's absolutely wonderful and can't wait to hear the more thematic material, once that gets out.

Who was the voiceover in the trailer?

It sounded sort of like Benedict Cumberbatch.
