Just listened Badelt´s The Scorpion King 2 score. It seems he composed it (well, kinda) right after Starship Troopers 3. It is as bad as ST 3, but at least one can hear some real instruments. Total rubbish though.

Maybe some people missed the talk over the now playing thread (was it that?) so here's the info from HANS-ZIMMER.COM on Badelt's piece for the 2008 olympic games:

    THE FLAME OF LOVE
    Co-composed by Klaus BADELT

Yesterday, spanish tenor Placido Domingo and Chinese top female singer Song Zuying jointly presented a song entitled "The Flame of Love" at the Beijing Olympics closing ceremony, echoing the tender theme song "You and Me" at the opening ceremony.

The lyrics were created by Chinese writers Song Xiaoming and Yuan Yuan. While the music was produced by Chinese top composer Bian Liunian and Klaus Badelt.

    Read more at www.Xinhuanet.com

I caught some of it.....nothing remarkable except that Song Zuying was exceptionally pretty.

Yes, and some real instruments (or at least they sound real to my ears).

Indeed. The only reason to watch Starship Troopers 3 and The Scorpion King 2 was to be surprised by at least decent action scores by Badelt: and the thing is that ST 3 is totally awful and Scorpion King 2 is awful.

The first and second sound clip sound good, but the third one is nothing special. However, I would gladly listen to the entire score.
  2. Scored "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans".

This score serves as sort of a sequel to Premonition. The orchestration is similar, the soundscape is near-identical. You can play these back to back and wouldn't miss a beat.

Due to time conflicts Klaus isn't scoring the BEN HUR LIVE Show (http://www.benhurlive.com/) anymore.

What is Klaus working on that we don't know about? It hardly seems he has enough projects that time conflicts would occur... confused

Corporate events, maybe? Ads? That sort of thing.
I know there's a lot of money in that.

But I'd wish we'd see another Promise or Time Machine or even Equilibrium one of these days.
I was kinda looking forward to his take on Ben Hur, so I'm sorry to see him leave. slant

All the same in the end, isn't it? Same people writing the music - just a different person getting the name on the cover. Or am I wrong?

perhaps, but I do know that some of Badelt's scores are now favourites of mine, while other 'same' MV composers haven't made me a favourite yet of any of their work

I doubt that's the case. Badelt has written some really good stuff whilst the other names' outcome is virtually unlistenable.
