NP: THE ROCK (Hans Zimmer, Nick Glennie-Smith etc.)
A contemporary masterpiece, and the STAR WARS of its generation (in terms of film music recruitment). One of my alltime favourites.I am extremely serious. -

Beautiful! I have the rejected Delerue too, which is fine, but I prefer the Zimmer.
YES ! A perfect little album. Gorgeous, to the point, and highly emotional Zimmer."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Goosebumps - Danny Elfman
This gets better with every listen. A fun, rollicking throwback of a score with echoes of Elfman's Tales From the Crypt theme as well as Beetlejuice and others. 'Mantis Chase' is sensational.
Been trying to get into this, but haven't so far. It's not really my preferred Elfman sound these days. I'll give it more shots.
To be honest I felt the same way about this on the first listen or two but its really clicked for me now. There’s a little Mars Attacks in there too but yes, very different to much of Elfman's recent output.
The Tourist - JNH
This is seriously underrated I think; the first half of the score is especially good (not the film however - it'll forever be an abomination!). -

NP: RUSH (Hans Zimmer)
My colleague in Montages always raves about this, but I can't see what the big deal is. It's nowhere near DAYS OF THUNDER, and although there are some good tracks, it doesn't do that much for me.I am extremely serious. -

I don't even necessarily mean that in a negative way. It's a very pleasant album in its own way...but there's something about it that just seems so snoozy to me! It's weird because I don't have that reaction with most other early Zimmers that sound quite similar...something like Rain Man or Driving Miss Daisy. I just find the themes to those far more engaging. -

Fair enough. To each their own.
NP: THELMA & LOUISE (Hans Zimmer)
The most Pink Floyd/David Gilmour-ey Zimmer has been. I dig it!I am extremely serious. -

Great outdoors, expansive adventure score! I like the Poledouris version too -- both have their strengths and weaknesses.I am extremely serious. -

Nice score indeed, lovely, nostalgic feeling to it all. Btw is it me or is the np thread turned into a Zimmer topic as well?Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

My god, it is boring or what? (the score. I thought the movie was hideous, turned it off half-way).Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

As much as I love the Z-man's music, we can't possibly have that !!!
THE LOST WORLD - Johnny W.
Always a joy to return to thanks to the tremendous action cues. But most of all because it's so different from the first one's sound, as glorious as that is. Because I really do enjoy TLW more. Primal John Williams = da bomb !!"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

It's my fault, due to the Zimmer walkthrough I'm having (plus, this place is about as active as a deserted frontier town, so not a lot of posting inbetween). But I promise -- just a couple more albums left and I'm finished.I am extremely serious. -

Yup! There are some really fine people at FSM, I tried to persuade a few ( Graham Watt, Tall Guy, Joan Hue, Pluto, Latham Conger III, Andre Lux and others ) to come over here but to no avail. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

NP: BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE (Hans Zimmer & Junkie XL)
My fine 6-track, 38-minute playlist of just the good stuff.
This is also my final Zimmer album in this walkthrough.
I've owned a few more Zimmers over the years, but for some reason or other traded or sold them off. They include the BRITISH YEARS compilations (with much of his early stuff), RENAISSANCE MAN, BROKEN ARROW, SMILLA'S SENSE OF SNOW, HANNIBAL, KUNG FU PANDA come to mind.
I also have a list of some Zimmers I want to acquire. Although I'm already familiar with most of them, I simply never got around to picking them up: POINT OF NO RETURN, TRUE ROMANCE, MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND, THE LAST DAYS, THE THIN RED LINE, SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON, TEARS OF THE SUN, SHERLOCK HOLMES, THE PACIFIC, SON OF GOD, for example.I am extremely serious. -

Or SUMMON THE HEROES, which my version is called.
Yeah, it's a decent interpretation, but I don't really think it works very well in an orchestral idiom. Nor does most Vangelis.I am extremely serious. -
