Understood Jon, and empathise with the underlying sentiments (even if I can't really get behind your conclusions: I don't think any of the recent reviews are cringeworthy, nor do I think Thomas in any way, shape or form looks 'stupid').
Maybe we can get some more opinions in?'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

No, I genuinely didn't know what it meant! I didn't know whether he intended to say "it doesn't sound like 300" or "it's not as good as 300", which are two totally different ideas... although, I have to say, neither of which would usually be expressed with the word "win".
then let me clarify something with you Jon,
300 is about soldiers trying to WIN a battle, immortals is about soldiers trying to WIN a battle, hence Immortals doesn't WIN of 300
I don't think that's too difficult is it? I like to play with words, I put words in a certain context, so that they get various meanings. I know this is not the preferred English, but I put it in there deliberately, because I want to play with the context of 300 and Immortals. It's to have a bit of fun. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want your reviews to be serious and accurate, that's fine by me. Your reviews are awesome, and I respect you enormously for your talent and skill. I on the other hand take it seriously enough, but I want to make them fun as well. And considering most people do like or at least accept the reviews I write, that is enough for me.
Personally, I'm getting tired about the personal attacks. I know where my place is in the long list of reviewers, I do know that. And I know it's way down there. But I have a personal style and I like it. It's far from perfect, but at least I know I make people smile with the little anecdotes I put in my reviews. And I know that there are quotes or tag-lines that amuse the people here. Because they are there to be funny. Nothing more. Stop taking my reviews so seriously, and start concentrating on your own work. If you don't like what I write, no problem, stop reading them (or you have to be a masochist). The fact you're putting the time and effort in them is to make me look like an ass on this forum. And honestly, I do that myself. I don't need your help to do that.
Jon, if you think you're gonna convince me to stop reviewing, or god willingly change my style, you're dead wrong. There are other people who can convince me of that, people with more human skills. Throw me of the IFMCA board if you think I make them look ridiculous. For me Maintitles is more than enough, and forever will be
Yours Truly,
A WINNING REVIEWERwaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

And that, right there, is what frustrates me the most. You see what you wrote there, in the paragraph I quoted? Perfect grammar. Not a single spelling error, no major grammatical problems, full-formed thoughts. Why can't you write like that in your reviews???This is the point I'm making... it's not a personal attack. Your opinions and ideas are great, and your humor and everything, no problem... you just express them so strangely, with such weird syntax and bizarre sentence structure, I have to read them several times to actually understand what point you're trying to make. I can't believe that you would intentionally want to confuse some of your readers, or not care that they don't understand what you're saying!
But you clearly CAN write in really good English - because you just did it! Right there!! Do that in your reviews, without losing any of your insight or quirky humor, and I'll be a happy camper!

Thank you Jon for being such a good sport about it. Once again I'll try to do my best when reviewing a particular score, making sure the review reads fluently enough for an outsider.
Personally Immortals is an average review of me, but to call it cringe worthy is stretching it a bit I think. Personal impression of course, but it reads okay enough (for me).
Ps, if people need to read my reviews multiple times to fully understand them, I take that as a compliment, it means there are deeper things or qualities hidden withinwaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

I've been watching the first two episodes of THE VIKINGS (obviously...given my heritage), and while I think Morris' score is good, the series itself is pants. Glossy Hollywood vikings with only marginal relevance to the 'real thing'. Why is it so damn hard for filmmakers -- even Norwegians -- to make good and credible viking films? I would want to see one in the style of THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST.I am extremely serious. -

The clothes, the mannerisms, the clichéed portrayals. And the fact that they're too contemporary and clean-looking. Typical of Hollywood, it is set in "Scandinavia" as if that were a country. Suddenly, however, you see Northern lights, which is only visible in the far North of Norway and Sweden, and then the next moment they talk about travelling west (to Britain). Few of the Northernmost tribes travelled to Britain. Stuff like that. It's the Hollywood version of vikings.
And of course they speak English, but I realize it's difficult to expect anything else for an American audience.I am extremely serious. -

It's a straight drama, produced for History Channel (like THE BIBLE). It looks kinda good, visually, so there must be lots of money in it (also like THE BIBLE). And it's clearly modelled after the success of GAME OF THRONES (although nowhere near as brilliant, of course).I am extremely serious. -

Indeed. And preferably not native tongue with an American accent, which happens all too often when they try to emulate Norwegian in Hollywood films. In this case, they would also need to research old norse, not just contemporary Norwegian/Danish/Swedish.I am extremely serious. -

It's the same with German. German officers in "War Horse" for instance: Wrong grammar, wrong pronunciation. Hollywood is teeming with Germans. Should not be too difficult to get it straight.Bach's music is vibrant and inspired. -
