I don't like Alien very much. I don't see what is so extremely genious aout.
But then, I'd perhaps better see the movie too.

Seeing the movie would help, but the whole feel of the music is enough to give you a good idea of what the movie is like.

The original film had genuine touches of genius, not least Geiger's designs, much immitated since.

    Watch it Bregt, it's brilliant.

    THe movie is brilliant.

I'm not so picky normally, but the Geiger typo is quite interesting. Is xenomorph radioactive? biggrin

Alien would certainly be in my top 10 Goldsmith scores. My number one would still have to be The Omen just because of how much the choir used to freak me out as a child. That film would be nothing without that haunting score. The Final Conflict wasn't too bad either with it's new themes.

Papillon is another classic that should have won the oscar back in 73.

    No. It's not.

First: I have the original score bought, and there's not liner notes.

Second: In the track by track analysis from the Deluxe Edition talks more about the argument of the movie than about the music. So No one has talked about the thematic elements in total recall yet.

I actually played the score to the Omen on Christmas morning and my mother nearly crapped herself. I had to play the last track to the Final Conflict to assure her that I was just celebrating the lords triumph over the anti-christ, and not praising Satan. lol

But still, looking back, I'm sure I could have chosen a better selection that morning.

Understood. Though I *am* religious. One would argue if it's technically God who killed all these people biggrin

Seriously speaking, the case is a lot more complex than it seems to be, though religion-hating is somewhat understandable.

What is the best end credits from Goldsmith???

I was watching my discography and I can't find any kind of "rebel fleet" ,"throne room" or " Mummy returns" or " it's only gold" ...with all the main theme played at the end.....

Only the star trek credits are close!!!!

How it can be? Wich is the most thematic goldsmith score?
