  1. Hey guys! I've haunted these forums for years and enjoy your posts. smile (I enjoy reading them more than writing my own, clearly.)

I'm finally driven to post because my fiancé is entrusting me with the walk-down-the-aisle music, and I know who who I trust to give me some good ideas! smile I was sure I would have 20 ideas off the top of my head, but suddenly everything I'm really into is either too epic, too chill, or too zany. dizzy

There are two parts to score: walking down the aisle, and walking back.

First question: What, in your opinion, are the characteristics of a good wedding track? I'm mulling this over myself.

    Second question: Track recommendations?

    Current contender:
Going Home from Local Hero by Mark Knopfler - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g2-3hmU5Sw
I like the energy of this one, but I would like it if it were more straight up orchestral.
  2. Well, of course the Imperial March as you head down. And back, the foreboding classical piece that I cant' recall the name of, on piano.

The Scottish Symphony Orchestra did a version for a "Last Night At The Proms" suite in Dundee a few years back:

The segment lasts just under 2 minutes so you may have to rush down the aisle if you use this!

The triumphant version of The Force Theme from the final scene of Star Wars rather, the introduction of which was clearly (and meaningful) derived from Mendelssohn's Wedding March anyway.

I believe Barry's theme from Out of Africa is a wedding standard.

Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.
  5. Okay, serious mode this time.

    "The Mighty"
    Composer: Trevor Jones
    Cue: My Noble Knight

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScgpRlIHVf0
(turn the volume up -- it's really really quiet)

    "Under the Tuscan Sun"
    Composer: Christophe Beck
    Cue: Gaudeamus

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76euyuQH904

    "Knight Rider"
    Episode: "Let it Be Me"
    Composer: Don Peake
Cue: no track names were given on the release.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB-oipHp6Cc

    "Enterprise"
    Episode: "Similatude"
    Composer: Velton Ray Bunch
    Cue: You Owe Me One
On: Volume 1 from La La Land Records

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah37pJSBwPw (5:15 in)

    "The Pretender"
    Episode: I don't recall.
    Composer: Velton Ray Bunch
    Cue: Jarod's Mom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae_2xVf46D4 (the first couple of seconds are screwed up)

    "The Princess Bride"
    Composer: Mark Knopfler
Cue: Once Upon a Time...Storybook Love

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x59-fP1hIRs

    "Rich in Love"
    Composer: Georges Delerue
    Cue: Main Title

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55OLBL251PY (it opens this suite; the first 1:22)

    "The Mission"
    Composer: Ennio Morricone
    Cue: Brothers

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=3STwQYyy4dk

There were a couple cues similar to this in an episode of "Gunsmoke" that Jerrold Immel scored, but I don't know if they are clean enough to rip and use. I can check if you are interested.

    "Rudy"
    Composer: Jerry Goldsmith
    Cue: Main Title

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmwOG8f6rYE

    "Cast Away"
    Composer: Alan Silvestri
Cue: Main Title (though really, you can use any cue from that short score)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMoFmICrISE

    "Somewhere in Time"
    Composer: John Barry
Cue: I think this cue is titled Somewhere in Time

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esrTfwBiOM0

    "Ghost"
    Composer: Maurice Jarre
Cue: I don't recall the name

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWOBp6Xlgw8

I'll have to spend more time thinking to come up with more examples.

unconventional recommendation, but "The Life and Death of Amy Pond" from Doctor Who, specifically the opening 2 minutes, are simply the most gorgeous, lilting melody I know of. It's actually played for effect over a sad moment in the show, but would be perfectly beautiful for a happy occasion as well. perhaps the song is too dramatic though.

Bach's music is heartless and robotic.

That's a very beautiful piece! I've listened to all of Murray Gold's music for Doctor Who, but in-episode, and that one totally went under my radar! I'm wondering what other bits have passed me by! Some day I'll finish my slog through every soundtrack album in the series. :P

Hahahaha! That would get a laugh!

No kidding! Thank you for all that! I've listened to each of them once and I really like Rudy and The Mission's 'Brothers'! (Yeah, I'd be curious to hear the cues from Jerrold Immel!) I'm adding them to a playlist so I can let them roll around in my mind.

You reminded me that I have a totally wonderful Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone CD that I need to listen to again! I absolutely love the arrangements of Gabriel's Oboe and The Falls they did!

Ooh! Out of Africa is nice!

The Force Theme: Haha! You may joke, but I like the victorious/happy tone! :P
  8. The "Gunsmoke" episode is "Patricia":

I thought I remembered more than one cue.

From my long thread of the series' scoring:

Also, 6:44 and 9:41 in: a flute parts that are very pleasant from a score called "Eden"[/b] *by Brad Fiedel):

There's something akin to this in an episode of the 1980's series "Hunter", but it would require to much editing to be of any use.

Believe it or not, when I went to hunt down a copy of the music, I was told by his agency a ton of people had been asking for it and that some even said they wanted to play it at their weddings.

    Ted Kuhn is the composer.
