Yeh but for animation freaks like me Menken is top choice biggrin
  1. I can't get into Menken as well, I must say.

Perhaps the fact that I grew up listening to Menken has something to do with it. wink

  2. I always preferred Menken´s scores. I never managed to listen to a Randy newman score in one go.

The sentence counts for me too; if you add Menken on the 2nd part of the sentence as well. wink
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  3. Well, I prefer Menken over R.Newman if given that choice.

It´s JNH´s Disney scores which rule supreme.

Although Hunchback is really great, with fascinating songs and scoring.

Well Menken's soundtracks are mostly filled with songs anyway, no more than about 20 min of score sadly. tongue

I consider Menken as a songwriter (a great songwriter wink ) first, rather than a film composer.

But I also heard Randy doesn't want to be called film composer, he prefer to be recognized as a singer-songwriter.

Well, I like his songs tongue

I think Menken's scores are even better than the songs actually. Even Randy's scores tend to be very enjoyable but I don't like his songs that much (except You've Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story).

You can hear various snippets from Princess and the Frog's score on the official website now. Be sure to check different sections as there is different music in each.

At least some the score is being released on CD thanks to those. May the same happen to Alice In Wonderland and Toy Story 3...

Personally I'm more looking forward to the songs anyway, I have to say. Ten new Randy Newman songs gives me reason to rejoice, even if they're only these ones (the clips I've heard sound great).

The sound clips suggest that I should pass on this without a second thought. But I will still wait and see how it works in the film.

I'm looking forward to this album in a way that no 31-year-old man should do, in all probability. I guess the score will be standard Newman/animation stuff but it's the songs I'm most eagerly awaiting.
