  1. While this is really just an excuse to talk about another favorite subject of mine - food - what would be your dream menu if you were having John Williams over for dinner? What would you make (if you’re a cook) or what would you have if you could have anything prepared for your meal with him?

I love to cook, and my favorite cuisines are Ethiopian, French and Lebanese (probably in that order) so my dream menu for serving dinner to John Williams, would probably include all three! I’d make Lebanese baba ganoush as an appetizer, injera (teff sourdough pancakes), miser wat (berebere lentils), gomen (Ethiopian kale), yedinich wat (spicy potatoes and onions) for the main meal and French dark chocolate & pear cake with creme fraiche for dessert!

He might never come back with a menu like that if he’s a meat and potatoes kind of guy, but there’d certainly be a lot of love in the food and I’d hope that we’d still have amazing conversations!

I’d love to hear what meal you’d have/make!
  2. Right before the UK went into lockdown we went out for our first Lebanese meal. I loved the baba ganoush!

I would probably treat him to a Scottish-themed meal. Maybe thinly sliced smoked salmon simply accompanied with lemon juice and oatcakes. I would have to introduce him to haggis (sheep offal, onions, oatmeal and lots of pepperI have assumed that he would be dining in the UK at our house), turnip and mashed potatoes. Then, to finish would be cranachan (whipped cream, whisky, oatmeal (again!), honey and raspberries). There would be no vegetarian/vegan option.

Just the thought of it makes me hungry.

This is roughly the recipe I usually use:

    What a topic!

I'm not a terribly good cook myself, even though I've lived alone all my adult life and have had to make my own dinners. But I love to EAT, as my current weight attests to.

Wish I knew what Williams' favourite dish was; I could have served that. One of the things I know about his personal quirks is his passion for TREES. Not sure if one can incorporate that into a dish somehow.
    I am extremely serious.
  6. Something with pine nuts? Like pesto! Or wild oyster mushrooms grow on trees too! smile
