Here we go for another one of my clip sets! There’s a theme running through this set and that theme is ROBOTS. The robot/’droid/mechanism need not be the main focus of the movie, but may just be an incidental character, but each movie does feature some sort of artificial being.

There are a couple of early clips where the subject isn’t technically a mechanised robot – they are more animated (not in the cartoon animation or CGI sense of the word) entities – but the clips are great and I wanted to include them. And you'll get the idea when you hear them.

    1) Two points are on offer for each clip – movie title and composer for each.
    2) There’s also a bonus clip and for this clip there’s also 2 points on offer but here I just want the name of the robot/’droid.

So there’s a total of 52 points on offer. Guess as many times as you want and, as usual, PM answers to me. I’ll leave then up until next weekend.

    3) All the clips are in chronological order, covering 56 years.
    4) There are 5 occasions where there are 2 scores from the same year (according to the main year as cited by imdb.com)
    5) There are 3 composers that feature twice...
    6) ...and an additional composer that features 3 times!!
    7) And, finally, 3 of the 26 clips come from TV shows.

I hope that everyone who participates enjoy the clips and hopefully any hints will help with identifying the unfamiliar clips. Let everyone know your likes and dislikes from the set.

Clues may be on offer to those who participate. Results announced next Saturday evening (UK time).

Hmm... Nope, no idea what that sentence means, but I've got a sneaky suspicion this...

There I (hopefully) guessed number 6. The first time I heard it I assumed ''Old music?! I don't know this!''. wink

Oh, you should always start at the bottom with these things! Otherwise you'll be daunted too much by all the unfamiliair 'old' stuff tongue

I don't even know what 95% of them are. I was hoping some of John Powell's ''Robots'' score was in there, but alas. I got two though. tongue

That would be too obvious. Besides, I don't own this score.

You're not missing out on much tbh. Btw, did I get #6 right? confused

    Yes you did!

    Update:

    Tommy_Boy - 22 points
    Southall - 21 points
    BobdH - 12 points
    Demetris - 8 points
    Anthony - 6 points

Clip 25 has been correctly identified by everyone so far. Awaiting some correct answers for 03-05, 11-13, 16 & 23-24. And no attempts at the bonus clip yet.

BTW, Demetris, all the clips are in chronological order. wink

Alan, are there any cues that everyone is getting that I'm not? Any that are so obvious I should be getting easily? confused

Of the clips you haven't been able to identify, clip 09, 14, 19 & 21 have been identified by 3/4 other participants. And clip 18 has been identified by everyone else.

    Clips 03, 04, 07, 11-13, 16, 23, 24 and bonus have yet to be guessed by anyone.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I would have thought that most were gettable. There's maybe a couple that will be really hard - and are mainly there to ensure that no-one gets a 100% score. wink

    Now there's a challenge.

Again, Falkirk, you're making a game where I hardly know any of them. That normally wouldn't prevent me, though, but I'm just not sure I have the time to participate with equal vigour as the previous ones on this one before the deadline.
    I am extremely serious.

Sorry, Alan. I've been swamped with school work. Will download the clips tomorrow and give it a shot.
  14. I'm recognising a few of them. I think people should remember that there aren't THAT MANY films with robots.

Must have been some help as your score has improved:

    Tommy_Boy - 22 points
    franz_conrad - 22 points
    Southall - 21 points
    BobdH - 12 points
    Anthony - 10 points
    Demetris - 8 points

Anthony pulls himself off bottom spot and Michael makes a bid for the top!

BTW, the final bonus clip is not in chronological order.
