  1. And now it's back:

Its back up on our site right now. How long it will last is anyone's guess. I will keep you posted when we get down to the nitty gritty -- 40 or less.

Don't bother clicking on the MBR links as their site is down right now, with only a log-in page coming up.

  3. Update from LLLR and on their next release:

JASON IS BACK ON THE BOTTOM OF CAMP CRYSTAL LAKE WHERE HE BELONGS!

Friday the 13th Box Set is finally sold out. Gone for good. Muerte.

Maybe SAE, Dark Del, BSX or Movie Music still has them but we are officially out!

A NOTE ABOUT OUR NEXT RELEASE DATE:

Our planned release for Jan 31 will not be done in time, so that title will now be coming out for Valentine's Day, FEBRUARY 14, along with 1...possibly 2 other titles.

  4. Posted today by MV in regards to a thread at FSM asking for more scores from the series "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea":

It's a complicated matter that involves the estate of Irwin Allen and Fox. I hope to work something out this year.

    MV

Goldsmith scored an episdoe, by the way.

  5. One of Kritzerland's next two CD's will be a combo of:

The other one hasn't been guessed yet.

  8. Somebody is saying at FSM that LLLR's Facebook page is announcing in the Fall of this year they will release a score CD to the remake animated series "Thundercats" (Kevin Kliesch, orchestrator turned regular composer)

  10. Post at FSM:

Here is what "Craig Richard Lysy" said on the filmtracks messageboard:

I finally met Cliff Eidelman! I love this guy too and told him straight out that for purely selfish reasons on my part that he needed to secure more scoring assignments! He signed my Big Miracle CD. I hope the exposure of this animal-lovers and family film will get him more work.

Some killer news! Star Trek VI is released in March on 2 CDs and features the complete scores with out-takes and alternative cues! Boom! This is long overdue and I can hardly wait to review this.

  13. General consensus of FSM members is that FSM's next released, a 5CD set (not constituting a "Box") is:

    "Ben Hur"

Since it is not a box, that means we can rule out the "Making of" book, the sketches, the CD of re-arranged love themes, the piece of paper Miklos may have gotten spittle on once during the sessions, broken pencils, and the kitchen sink.

    You're joking.
    Ben Hur?

That's only been released like, oh, seventeen times already.

I honestly don't need another version (I bloody have FOUR!)

Hm. Is another Ben Hur necessary? How much unreleased material can there be - and how much room for improvement on the already released material is there? I have two releases and feel quite satisfied - a waste of one of the last FSM releases, if you ask me.

Perhaps it contains the 'never been revealed before' rejected score by Alfred Newman wink

  14. Maybe a sign of why FSM CDs are coming to an end? There is just not enough stuff to go around.

It is getting less and less, at least as far as scores that would sell well goes anyway. there's still tons of stuff I'd snap up but a lot of it is obscure or of limited interest. As for Ben-Hur I just can't justify buying it again.

  15. And...

Let's just say it's Ben-Hur for $59.95 (with every possible recorded take imaginable, plus the 3 albums in stereo from tape sources) but SHHHHHHHH!!! if you guys bug SAE before it's announced (2 weeks or so) I'm in deep doodoo.

    Lukas

    (set notes)

That is, unless of course SAE beat him to it by announcing on Facebook like with "Gremlins"... ;-)

  16. Perserverence Records 2012 Plans:

"A brand new Craig Safan album, a whole slew of music from one particular composer, a "Holy Grail" score from the 80's, plus a rejected score from an Academy-Award-winning composer. So far, we have 17 confirmed releases for this year!"

This is certainly far more than any year they've ever done. Sadly some of these will no doubt be the continuance of promised straight reissues of regular passed score releases.

And, as to the rejected score, well -- here's a list of Acadamy Award winning composers who've had scores rejected, and the scores (that haven't been released yet):

    John Barry
    Maurice Jarre
    Michel Legrand
    Marvin Hamlisch
    Howard Shore
    Jerry Goldsmith
    Elmer Bernstein
    Dave Grusin
    Georges Delerue
    Bernard Herrmann
    Nelson Riddle
    Ernest Gold
Elliot Goldenthal (yes, yes, he's not on the Rejected Scores list -- both titles are still in the process of info gathering)
    Rachel Portman
    Gabriel Yared
    John Addison
    Robert Russell Bennett
    Michael Giacchino
    Dario Marianelli

The following have had them rejected too, but I am discounting them for stated reasons:

Older Works PR Doesn't Seem to Go For

    André Previn
    Bronislau Kaper
    Dimitri Tiomkin
    Franz Waxman
    W. Franke Harling

One Horner won't let out and the other(s) are no doubt material for other labels.

    James Horner

One has tapes missing, and the other two films are a little too obscure for PR.

    Leonard Rosenman

Doesn't seem like the kind of composer they'd go for.

    Ralph Burns

    "Frenzy" tapes are missing.

    Henry Mancini

    Highly unlikely.

    John Corigliano

  17. LLLR's next CD's are (for the 28th):

    "The Mechanic" (Feilding)
    "Speed" (Mancina)
"Jennifer 8" (2CD; Young, plus Jarre's rejected score)
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.
  18. Expanded Speed? It has some great highlights but I wonder what is added to this new release other than more minutes. But the release of Jennifer 8 is a great one in my book. I do have some reservations though since I am not sure what the new music (Young's) will add to the current Milan release (the thematic and melodic material is cracking, the atmospheric music less so) but the addition of Jarre's score will be interesting to hear (though I have no idea of what this will sound like and I am not that much of a fan of his music).

  19. Somebody at FSM said Jarre's effort, 40 minutes, sounds like "Ghost" and "Witness". I hope the more orchestral moment and not the bad dated synths of "Ghost".

  21. New from Quartet Records:

"THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH" (David Lee)

    "Casino Royale" (Burt Bacharach)

They went the extra mile above on both these -- read the descriptions of what they did for each.

    Indeed.
    Well.
    *sigh*

I feel another giveaway coming along shortly!

  22. Holy crap the releases aren't stopping today.

Looks like Kritzerland's next release has been guessed:

"A Man and a Woman" (Francis Lai)

Well, let me just say this - if it's A Man and a Woman I'd be dancing a jig. Why? Because the other three CD releases are a joke and all licensed from the overseas rights' holders (well, maybe not) - the problem being that whomever is doing the licensing doesn't actually have the album masters, so the three releases sound like ca-ca and mono ca-ca at that. So, if there were to FINALLY be a release from the original album masters in STEREO and if that release also included the English language version, I should think that would not only be cause to celebrate, it would be a very quick sellout, due to the film's enormous popularity.

  23. Boy, MV[/b] is really milking this is "Hook" coming? tension. Facebook posting:

Alright, kiddies -- we here at the triple L need a HUGE FAVOR from you. . .

With all your heart we need you to say, "I do believe in fairies. I do! I do!"

With any luck, tomorrow, Feb 21, 2012 -- day 1,106 -- will finally mark the end of our grand adventure...

I just love seeing the flailing and anger each time it's not "Hook".

Don't know if it was meant to be spoken, but somebody at FSM said Quartet is working on the score for "De Sade" (Billy Strange, whom passed away).
