Jordi, I have read Clemmensen's review on filmtracks..though i don think this score is good but it deserves more than one star ..i would give a solid 3 since its average or the worse 2 and a half. But not one . He is just beiing biased again hanging in POTC 4.

Since pirates 3 had 2 stars, Obviously Game of Shadows had to be rated with 1 or 0. It's called be coherent XPPPPPP

The extent to which people care about critics opinions is impressive. I thought those review websites are just means of showing one's opinions to the rest of the world. If people do care about these so much then I am more than surprised that Hans Zimmer is still getting a job, considering that almost all of these film music critic websites tend to pan his works.

Blu, actually the problem is the way Clemmensen does it..its not that he doesnt like many of Zimmer's music (i dont like all of his works as well) , but the style he writes his reviews in are obviously biased against Zimmer personally and mostly has nothing to do with the original value of music.
  3. Yeah, that is true. The fanboy community's issues isn't as much about his ratings, but the way he attacks Zimmer personally in his reviews and not only of his music. Quite often he uses a 5 star review of another scores to attack Hans's writing methodology, which he doesn't understand at all, most probably.

I agree Pawel...! Clemmensen is kind of childish also but honestly there are people outthere who are donating money to his site..i dont know what to say..i guess none takes serious anymore Clemmensen and everybody is just having a good time on reading him.
  4. The regular readers, including the regular forum participants there are mostly anti-Hans too, anyway.

    I agree.
It's also impressive to see how the discussions degenerate and it's not about music anymore but who is right and who is wrong.

I wonder if some people will ever realise that it's OK for someone to not like the same music as they.

Uhm......it's a COMMON RIFF! Not a melody. So there's bound to be tons of it all over the place (I think I've heard that riff in lots of rock music too). No, what that is is a typical example of a 'fanboy' discovering a similarity that he then somehow takes as 'inspiration', even though said inspiration is oulandishly obscure. They love that stuff.

I'll bet you my entire fortune and my grandmother that Zimmer or JNH haven't even heard OF that Lai score.

But fun discovery in itself, I guess.

I did a similar thing when I found Silvestri's POLAR EXPRESS theme sounded very much like a Roger Hodgson song, i.e. the "Christmas riff" of it. There's no cross-influence, of course, but it's fun to discover such cosmic coincidences.
    I am extremely serious.

Zimmer is VERY film music savvy, I would NOT bet my entire fortune and a family member that Zimmer has not heard it before.

In this case, I would. And if he has, it's still just a very common riff.

I thought Why So Serious wasn't supposed to be common but clever, different and original.

Good discovery. If it is a rip off or just a coincidence we don't know for sure.

I thought that Why So Serious was taken from Tyler Bates microwavesound score for The Devil's Rejects.

  5. I would wonder if there isn't a similar rhythmic pattern in a Kraftwerk piece. Hans has been naming Kraftwerk as an inspiration for many years.
