Fucking hell; why is the instrumentation and production quality so different than the main theme heard in the trailer? did he just write the main theme and gave the rest of the score to Balfe's synths?

And I'm glad that one chance never happened. For if it did we would have never got Raiders of the Lost Ark!

I find it very difficult to imagine a John Williams James Bond score, I'm glad it never happened.

I've always felt that the Ornella Vanoni song he wrote for STORIA DI UNA DONNA is a "sample" of how a Williams Bond song would sound. Unfortunately, it's not on Youtube, but there's a 30-second sample here:

Yes, it does have a Bondish "feel" to it in the strings.

I'm surprised that more of Williams themes haven't been put to lyrics, just listen to his themes for Jane Eyre, Earthquake and Monsignor to name just three that lend themselves to lyrics perfectly.

    Very good point.

Aside from that Williams might have worked with John Barry back then.

I was more thinking about the build-up, the huge interval leaps, the minor chords etc. But yeah...the strings too.

As I said elsewhere... with each new track that gets released I am more and more convinced that these clips just have to be a joke. This simply cannot be music by a professional film composer for a major film, can it? It sounds like a demo piece someone might have written in the 90s as a joke parody of Media Ventures.

This is even worse than that "DNA" puerile garbage. Either they're deliberately releasing the worst tracks, or they really are a joke, or this is going to be one of the worst film scores ever written.

Though I'm not exactly dancing with joy I have to say that I don't find it that bad, in fact I quite enjoyed that.

I'm quite looking forward to it. Though it is amusing to see the "fanboys" (and some girls) go fucking batshit mental over anything that is released from this score! Just be patient and wait for the actual album rather than listening to silly fanmade things. rolleyes

I don't really understand why anyone listens to clips and segments rather than waiting for the whole thing. It just convolutes one's enjoyment of the eventual full experience with inescapable thoughts of "this is one of the clip parts" and "this is one of the new parts". confused I'm not even happy that I watched the trailer with the supposed Zimmer piece, lol.
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!

I mostly avoid clips but really that's just composers I love, composers like Zimmer are fair game in my little book and the clips can sometimes point to whether it's something I want or don't want.

I always wait for the full album...even (or perhaps especially) if it is one of my favourite composers. I hate listening in a 'mealpiece fashion' to soundtracks. So while I did indeed sneak into that "DNA" track from a while back (and found it fine, although I hope there are better tracks), I won't comment on the score untill I've heard the proper soundtrack presentation.

Too much 'bittyness' to really get a handle on but of the limited time I listened I have to say I quite liked what I heard and I want to hear more.

Reportedly, Christopher Nolan got busy again with interstellar and Hans Zimmer is already writing the score for it.

  7. I'm not quite shure about the nature of "Intestellar". But if - as IMDB indicates - this is a scifi about exploration and the mystries of space in the vain of "2001", a ambient electronic score by HZ might just be what this film needs.
